Design a brochure to communicate what you did
over summer break or dream vacation.
LEARNING PLAN
Learning Activities: This is a relatively short unit. It is mostly used to introduce communication to
the students and to introduce them to Microsoft publisher. After experiencing Publisher, the
students will, hopefully, have an appreciation for Adobe software. Using Publisher also allows the
students to experience and use a more available desktop publishing software.

design. They will start to demonstrate their Project, Illustrator Tutorial, Logo design
ability of layout and design to enhance graphic
designs.
LEARNING PLAN
Learning Activities:
Students will be introduced Adobe Illustrator. Illustrator will then be used to aid in the learning of
layout and design, and students will design a series of logos. Students will be taught about the
design process, why it is important to follow, and how it can aid in creating a successful design.
The difference of vector and raster images will be emphasized throughout the unit.

design process by designing a Vaudeville style
poster. This poster will also allow the students
to demonstrate their understanding of many
features of photoshop.
LEARNING PLAN
Learning Activities: We will start this unit with the basics of Photoshop. Discussing how layers can
be used to aid in creating and manipulating graphics. Tools will also be discussed over the duration
of the unit. Students will be given a variety of assignments, to help them practice and learn what a
lot of the tools in Photoshop can do.

from a vector image.
LEARNING PLAN
Learning Activities: Students will learn what screen printing is, and how it is used, and how to do it.
Students will Print a shirt.
Unit Enduring Understandings: Students will Unit Essential Questions: how can an offset

and design.
LEARNING PLAN
Learning Activities:
Students will first learn what offset printing is, for what it is used, and How it works. Students will
Then be taught how to use an offset printer. They will design and print a notepad with the offset
printer.

camera to fill a roll of film, develop the film and Project, etc.): Camera and enlarger parts Quiz
make 2 prints from the film. This will
demonstrate their understanding of all the steps
in Black and White photography.
LEARNING PLAN
Learning Activities:
We will first be discussing the basics of how photography works, manipulating and capturing light.
The students will then be given cameras to help them learn the parts of a camera and to learn how
a fully manual camera works. They will be assigned to take and develop pictures from a roll of film.
Literacy Activities:

will demonstrate their skills touching up pictures
of faces.
LEARNING PLAN
Learning Activities: Students will be introduced to digital imaging devices and how they work.
They will be given an assignment to find various colors around the school. This will help them
become familiar with the cameras while becoming more aware of what colors add to photos.
Unit Enduring Understandings: Students will Unit Essential Questions: How can you

objects in 2D with isometric drawings.
LEARNING PLAN
Learning Activities: Students will be introduced to the tools used in drafting (compass, ruler,
straight edge, 45-45-90 triangle, 30-60-90 triangle, etc). They will learn basic skills to using the
tools. Then we will learn how to use the tools in combinations to draw more complex items.
After the tools have been mastered, they will be taught orthographic projection. Each will be given
a block and they will, with guidance from the teacher, draw the block from all sides in orthographic
projection. After completing several more objects, with variations of difficulty, the students will do
the same with isometric drawings.
ICT1.a.2.e: Discuss how technology enables people to communicate by sending and receiving
information.
ENG1.a.8.m: Requirements for a design are made up of criteria and constraints.
ENG2.b.2.e: Discuss how models are used to communicate and test design ideas and processes.
Unit Enduring Understandings: Students will Unit Essential Questions: How does CAD help
learn how CAD can help communicate and help people communicate? Why is it important to
make the engineering and design process more know hand drafting and drafting with tools
efficient. Students will understand how to use techniques, before using CAD software?

either the book or real life objects.
LEARNING PLAN
Learning Activities: Students will be introduced to CAD, computer aided drafting. They will first
learn the tools of AutoCAD, what they do, how they are used, and how the tool relates to what they
did with the drafting tools. Other things to be discussed with AutoCAD include: layers and line
types, snap and object snap, keyboard commands, etc. Next we will discuss the proper methods
for using AutoCAD to draw isometric and Orthographic drawings. These drawings will come from
textbook or real-life objects.
