 Tony Award-winning Producer/UF Alumnus Miles Wilkin, his colleague Lisa Dozier-King, and SoTD’s Professor Kevin
Marshall are co-teaching Broadway and Beyond; Wilkin and Dozier-King are on Courtesy appointments as
Professors of Practice with UF SoTD.
 Rough Magic April 12-19 Constans Theatre
 Summer Programming and the 2019-20 Production Season are decided, and planning is underway.

Recent Faculty Accomplishments

 David Bogus (Ceramics) March 2019 – showed his work in a two-person show "Resistance" at University of Kentucky,
Lexington. His solo exhibition "Bogus Boutique" will travel to Berea College, Kentucky; Harford Community College,
Maryland; and Loudon House in Lexington, Kentucky between now and June.
 Kaira M. Cabañas (Art History) March 2019 – published the essay "Pour l’oreille, la pensée, l’œil" (For the Ear,
Thought, the Eye), in the volume Isidore Isou, which was released by the Centre Pompidou on account of
founding Lettrist Isidore Isou's retrospective exhibition. In April at the Pompidou, Cabañas will present Isou's
1951 film Traité de bave et d’éternité and a lecture during a day-long symposium dedicated to his life's work.
 Jesús Fuenmayor (Museum Studies) March 2019 – was interviewed by Luster Magazine about his curatorship of the
14th Bienal de Cuenca, and his vision as a curator from Latin America.
 Coco Fusco (Banks Preeminence Chair) April 2019 – will give an Intra-disciplinary Seminar Lecture entitled "The
Unbearable Promise of Utopia" at Copper Union, NYC.
 Heidi Powell (online Art Ed) March 2019 – presented her research in a lecture entitled "The Artist and Researcher
as Activist" for a national webinar for NAEA (National Art Education Association), and presented at the NAEA
conference in Boston during the PLR Deep Dive Research session, "Emerging Challenges, Strategies, and Trends in
Social Justice Research in Art Education".

filmmaker Liu Miaomiao [Theme: Gender, Disability, and the Chinese Muslim’s Encounters with Cultural Traditions
and a Modernized World]. This is a DW-cosponsored event, organized by the UF Mellon Intersections Group on
Imagineering and the Technosphere.
 Wed. 4/3, 5:15-7:30 p.m., Norman Gym PICT– Film Screening of Dream Empire and discussion with filmmaker
David Borenstein. This is a DW-cosponsored event, organized by the UF Mellon Intersections Group on
Imagineering and the Technosphere.
 Sat. 4/13, 1:00 p.m.-Sun. 4/14, 1:00 p.m., Norman Gym PICT – “Co-Optivism,” a 24-hour gaming marathon to raise
money and spread awareness about the massacre in Christchurch, New Zealand. The event will address
radicalization, intolerance, and gun violence by inviting activists, scholars, and researchers to speak about their
work on these issues. President Fuchs and Chief Diversity Office Antonio Farias are expected to visit.
 Mon. 4/22, 5:15-6:15 p.m., Norman Gym PICT – Guest Speaker Matt Carroll, a DW alum and a developer on
Google’s Flutter framework team. (Flutter is an open-source mobile application development framework.)
 Thurs. 4/25 - Fri. 4/26 – Convergence 2019:
o 4/25 – Student Showcase (5:30-7:00 p.m. at Innovation Hub) & Reception (7:30-9:00 p.m. at Norman
Gym): the premiere presentation of 30 student capstone projects, as well as 25 video game projects
developed in collaboration with the UF Computer Science and Engineering Department, followed by
reception. Industry guests will be present for networking opportunities.
