SAKRAMENTONG BANAL

Katawan ni Kristong aming tinatanggap, nagbibigay buhay, kaligtasang ganap;

Dugo ni Kristong sa krus ay umagos, mula sa sugat N’yat tagilirang inulos;

SAMA-SAMANG IPANGALAT

Sama-samang ipangalat ang pag-ibig ng Panginoon.

Sama-samang tamasahin kaligtasan ng Panginoon.

Tunay ang saya, tunay ang galak,

dulot ng Poon; awa at habag.
Ating tinanggap, Kanyang salita;
ating tinanggap, katawang banal.

Magningning nawa sa ating gawa,

tagapaghatid, tagapagdala.
Ilaw at gabay sa nawawala,
buhay at lakas sa mga aba.

Ating taglayin at ipagsabi,

h'wag pahuhuli sa pagsisilbi.
Sa’n man mapadpad, sa’n man ang daan;
awa ng Poon magpakailanman.
The Manila Cathedral-Basilica Choir is the official choir of the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate
Conception – Manila Metropolitan Cathedral. Founded in 2010 at the behest of Manila
Archbishop Emeritus Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales, the choir was formed as the official singing
group for the solemn liturgies presided by the Cardinal-Archbishop of Manila, and presently
animates a number of the Archdiocese’s grand celebrations.

The members of the Manila Cathedral- Basilica Choir come from different parishes, schools and
institutions in the Archdiocese of Manila. And upon its inception, and under the guidance of
then-rector of the Manila Cathedral, Monsignor Nestor Cerbo, the choir’s first members
underwent training through the Manila Cathedral-Basilica Institute of Liturgical Music, an
educational project supported by the Manila Metropolitan Cathedral-Basilica Foundation, Inc.
(MMCBFI). In the Institute, choir members with exceptional musical talents were given the
chance to undergo specialized education in cantoring, conducting, and pipe organ.

Having been formed as well to give song to the newly-restored Cathedral pipe organ, the
Manila Cathedral-Basilica Choir thus became part of the annual Manila Cathedral-Basilica Pipe
Organ Festival. This showcase saw the launch of many of the church’s numerous liturgical music
compositions, such as those by composers Alejandro Consolacion II and Ferdinand Bautista.

When the Manila Cathedral was closed for retrofitting in 2012, the Manila Cathedral-Basilica
Choir continued with its mission of spreading the message of the Gospel through song in the
solemn liturgical celebrations of Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle throughout the
Archdiocese. In 2014, the Manila Cathedral opened its doors to the faithful, and the choir found
itself in the thick of the preparations for the Apostolic Visit of Pope Francis. In January 2015, the
choir sang alongside other church choirs in the Pope’s masses both in the Manila Cathedral and
the Quirino Grandstand. Today, the Manila Cathedral-Basilica Choir is under the helm of
conductor Jason Borromero Ros, and serves under the Ministry on Music in the Liturgy of the
Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, singing on Sundays during the Cathedral’s
evening mass.
