SUBJECT: GUIDELINES AND RITES FOR ASH WEDNESDAY AND LENTEN

SEASON

Dear Fathers, Monsignori, Brothers and Sisters:

Peace!

As we prepare to celebrate the Season of Lent, Holy Week, and Easter Season, we are sending you
the following guidelines and rites:

1. Liturgical Notes and Guidelines for Ash Wednesday and the Lenten Season
2. Celebration of Burning Old Palms for Ash Wednesday (English and Tagalog)
3. Rite of Distribution of Ashes Outside the Mass (English and Tagalog)
4. Penitential Service for Lent (Kumpisalang Bayan)

We enjoin all our parish communities to prepare well for these sacred days of prayer and worship,
and to allow all our activities during this period to focus on the great mystery of God’s love and
mercy as revealed in the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus our Savior.
