Not Just In Books

When I think of Mathematics, the things that comes to my mind are numbers, formula, and patterns. I
always thought that these things can only be found in nature. But after watching the “Nature by
Number” by Cristobal Vila in Youtube, my perspective changed.

I developed a great understanding on how Math can be applied to our modern world. I can go outside
and appreciate the beauty of nature and say “Math is Beautiful” --- something I didn’t thought before.
Pattern, order, and symmetry exist in things around us. Leonardo Fibonacci also realized that his
discovery describes many things found in nature

Interconnected

I learned that some disconnected objects are somehow related by a sequence of number such as the
Fibonacci sequence. From the sunflowers in my backyard, to my thumbmark, and the occurring
hurricane in our planet…they are all connected.

Mathematics in Modern World

I also thought that Mathematics only applies to business, education, management, economics, politics,
technology and to all areas of man’s daily business but not to the divine work of creation of nature.

The video made me realize something. It made me understand that nature is actually a product of
Mathematics. Each natural creation follows a uniform sequence of numbers that makes its part either
so perfectly distributed or perfectly crafted.

“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art
and science.”
