Case Analysis of Conman Systems Pvt. Ltd.

Problem Statement
Whether Alice George should continue with the Conman Systems as Vice President (Public
Relations) or should she switch over to a new organisation where she could utilise her
excellent marketing skills.

Situation Analysis
Alice George who is a post graduate in Management Studies was working in Orion
Electronics. She made a mark in the marketing with her sheer hard work. But she was feeling
claustrophobic there due to the over supportiveness by Mr. Vijay Sammadar (Boss). So she
switched to Conman Systems Pvt. Ltd. that manufactures and markets Personal Computers
both for home users and business users. It’s major Unique Selling Proposition was the after
sales services to the small users. She made major efforts to penetrate the market of home
users by her innovative approach and as a result, company’s turnover increased by two and
half times. After some time the managing director of Conman System changed. New
managing director wanted to focus on the business users rather than of home users. So he
handed over the charge of marketing to Naik who earlier was the Vice President of
Production unit and the offered Alice to either work under Naik or work as Vice President of
Public Relations.

Alternatives:
1. Work as Vice President of Public Relations in Conman Systems itself.
2. Work under Naik in marketing department of Conman Systems.
3. Switch over to other organisation where she could devise her marketing skills and
strategies.

Recommendation:
Alice should switch to the other organisation where she can do justice to her skills and can
get enough space for her. She is a hardcore marketing professional who even raised the sales
for Conman Systems in its hard times. So it will not be fair for her to work under Naik and
working in Public Relations might psychologically hamper her enthusiasm and productivity
as this is not her cup of tea. She has an excellent track record of devising marketing strategies
which she can utilise in any organisation which will value her as an asset.
