Plantation timber- Is it really good

for environment?
Plantation timber production is the cultivation and
long-term management of trees on marginal
agricultural land. Plantation grown timber is a
renewable source which provides positive and long-
lasting social environmental and economic benefits.
Plantation timber is the best way to keep the
environment sustainable. It doesn’t affect the
environment as it is renewable meaning it never
runs out.

Planting trees in our

environment is a really
important thing to do. Timber
plantations are the way to solve the
climate change. Plantations can also be
known as sustainable as they don’t
damage the environment. They don’t harm
our climate, animal habitats and also
water cycles. If we plant trees, without
causing damage to fragile forests and
habitats we can use as much timber as we
want. Trees play a big role in our
environment. The growing amount of air pollution caused by the smoke
emitted by vehicles and factories can be controlled only if we plant
more and more trees. There are many more advantages of trees such as
they combat climate change, they clean air, they save water and of
course provide oxygen.Tree plantings provide an opportunity for
community involvement and empowerment that improves the quality of
life in our neighbourhoods. All cultures, ages, and genders have an
important role to play at a tree planting or tree care event.

In the workshop we use plantation timber

called radiata pine because it grows faster,
it is easy to replace and it doesn’t affect
our environment.
whereas, if we cut down an ancient forest
it will affect our environment. It would not
be that easy to replace it.
