PROPOSAL FOR EASTER HALF MARATHON FUND RAISING EVENT BY DRIC ORGANIZATION NAIVASHA REGION

Disability Resource & Information Centre acronym DRIC is a comprehensive community programme geared towards responding to
disability issues and provides relevant, timely and accurate information and resources to persons with disability. DRIC recognises rights of
disabilities as enshrined in the Disabilities Act, 2003 and also in the international convention sustainable development goals.
INCEPTION OF DRIC IN NAIVASHA
The establishment of DRIC in Naivasha (Appendices 1 Certificate of Registration) was as a result of the growing number of people with
disability due to social, economic and occupational challenges.It is quite evident that since the inception of DRIC many victims have
benefited.

PURPOSE OF THE HALF MARATHON EVENT

Guiding, counselling and awareness creation is one of the important components in our activities as DRIC. It is for this reason that the DRIC
management discussed and agreed to organise a half Marathon event to be held during Easter holiday (Appendices 2: Minutes of the
event).

Below are the specific objectives of the event: -

1) Promote Objectives of DRIC to the Naivasha Community


2) Provide adequate sensitisation of the DRIC activities.
3) Provide information capacity to the people with disability to know their rights and equitable participation.
4) Bridge the social, Economic and Occupational gaps amongst the disabled and abled community.
5) Empower and capacitate the disabled with adequate information to available occupation opportunities to earn a living.
6) Conduct recruitment

NAIVASHA EASTER MARATHON EVENT


Under the banner of DRIC, This proposal refers to sourcing for fund to facilitate the expenses that will be incurred during the event.
This event will involve the half marathon
activity which will cover 20km (figure 1)
with over 50 participants (Appendices 3
List of Participants) from DRIC disabled
members and in addition of selected
individuals from different organisations
and federations.
Below are the anticipated expenses
during the event.
