Analysis and simulation of Flow over a cylinder for Re=2000

Considering the 2D cylinder geometry for flow over a cylinder Re=2000:

Find the following:

1.Plot the sreamlines.
2.Plot Velocity contours.
3.Plot Pressure contours.
4.Plot velocity vectors.
5.Compute Drag coefficient (Cd) and compare with literature value.
6.Seperation point and separation angle.
7.Capture Boundary layer (Boundary layer thickness).

RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS
COEFFICENT OF DRAG (Cd):
The coefficient of drag for the cylinder is Cd= 0.9. It is taken as the average as the Re = 2000
still there is change in Cd value even after 1000 iterations. The Cd value from literature is
found out to be 1.1 and is shown in the figure as the plot Re v/s Cd.

This is found from literature

Finding separation point and angle:

This image is taken to paint and found out the pixels for triangle sides. Thus
seperation angle is found.
𝑡𝑎𝑛 𝜽=182/306
Seperation angle = 30.68°
Boundary layer thickness:
Boundary layer thickness is considered at the vertical axial line of cylinder, where
there is 99% of free stream velocity and it is 2.1567 and it is found out by drawing
a line
