This story is based on a 16th century Filipino epic poem of the Majestic and Magical
Adarna bird. This is a folklore about love, sacrifice and fantasy… In this act, we also
show the true Filipino values..

Once upon a time in the Kingdom of Berbania lived King Fernando and his Queen,
Valeriana, and three sons, Don Pedro, Don Diego and Don Juan.

Opening scene: Bumabagyo tulong tulong ang kaharian (BAYANIHAN, RESILIENCE) *we
need extras 
Magtutulungan ang mga tao magbuhat ng mga gamit.. at magbabayanihan bubuhatin ang
bahay kubo… tapos matatapos ang bagyo..

King Fernando: Is everybody settled now? Finally the storm has come and gone..
King Fernando (tired and turning sick, talking to his children): Make sure that the people who
need helped are accommodated.

Scene 1:
(King is sick in bed, the queen and three children surround his bed.)
Queen Valeriana: My dear, King, you have to be well soon..

Don Pedro: Do not worry, mother, I have called our kingdom’s elder healer to help Father.

When the healer arrived Don Diego receives her and the family welcomes her to their
home.

Don Diego: Thank you for coming fast, the King is in bad health..

Bae Rose: The people were saved because of the King’s leadership.. however, this
unexplained sickness can only be healed by a lullaby sung by the majestic Adarna bird.

Queen Valeriana: Then we shall find this bird and help the king. Thank you Bae Rose..

One of the sons mush catch the mythical bird that possesses magical powers in order
to save their father, King Fernando of Berbania..
King Fernando: Who ever finds the bird to save me shall inherit the throne and the kingdom
of Berbania!

But this task is not an easy one… The Adarna bird with her beautiful voice and special
powers could either enchant anyone to sleep, turn into stone or heal a deadly
sickness. How will the brothers surpass this?

Before leaving, they ask for their Father and Mother’s blessings..

Don Pedro, Don Diego and Don Juan doing mano po to the elders..

Queen Valeriana and Bae Rose: God bless you sons..

Scene 2:
Don Pedro went first but he wasn’t successful. He may have reached Mount Tabor and
the tree of Piedras Platas where the Adarna bird nested but the prince fell asleep after
hearing the bird’s song. Worse he turned into a stone when the lovely bird pooped on
him.

The second prince, Don Diego went to hunt next. Unfortunately, he had the same bitter
chance like his older brother. The kingdom was counting on Don Juan, so he went
next.

The youngest prince has climbed through Mount Tabor.

He met an old sick lady…

Sick lady: Will you help me, I only need food and water.. (Don Juan eagerly helps)

Don Juan: take as much as you need to be well..

Sick lady: Thank you hijo. Why is it that a prince like you has come to our poor place..

Don Juan: I am here to find the majestic Adarna to help heal my father, the King of Barbania.
My elder brothers have gone first but failed to return..

The old lady gave him tips about the magical tree of Piedras Platas and catching the
Adarna bird.

Scene 3:
Don Juan was finally ready to find the magical bird.. He saw his brothers-turned-stone
statues under a tree..

Don Juan also saw the bird who was flying away.. (Maghahabulan sa stage na parang
sumasayaw)
He then successfully caught the bird and helped his two brothers to be human again.

Don Juan: My friend, Adarna, I know my brothers have done you wrong but please help me
to return them back to normal. My father needs them.

Because of envy and greed of power, the two joined forces to beat Don Juan to
death… The two then returned home with the Adarna.

The king’s illness went worse because the bird never sang a single song.

Queen Valeriana: My sons.. why is the bird not singing.. and where is Don Juan?

Scene 4:
The Adarna flew back to Mount Tabor where Don Juan was regaining back his
strength.. He has been healed by the poor old lady he helped in the mountain.

Scene 5:
The Adarna happily went to the Kingdom of Berbania with Don Juan.
She sang and the King Fernando was healed. The Adarna flew away immediately..
The King went well and stronger than ever.
The King wanted to punish Don Pedro and Don Diego but Don Juan asked his father to
just forgive them.

Scene 5:
The Adarna bird fell in love with Don Juan but cannot follow her heart’s desires..
Don Juan, persistent about his love again went to Mount Tabor to pronounce his love
and ask the gods to let him marry her..

Don Juan and Adarna bird sing together (Got to believe in magic)

The gods listened, the Adarna bird transformed into a beautiful, majestic Princess.
Princess Maria of Mount Tabor then married Don Juan.. and they lived happily ever
after…
Ending scene: all dancing (Best day of my life or traditional musical instruments)
