WORDS

How powerful and important are words? In 2019 the Oxford English dictionary contains almost a hundred

and seventy two thousand words having that each and everyone of those words has a meaning. Words have been

caused to show love, make you laugh, upset you, and even have you pugnacious at someone. “ The Power of

Words” displays the true power of words.

“ The Power of Words” started off with a homeless blind man holding a sign stating “ I’m blind, please

help.” with barley anyone helping him out a young lady approaches him and changes everything. She showed how

changing a few words can totally change the perspective of a human. The blind man going through that was

probably fearful at first, due to him not knowing who the person is and if they are a genuinely nice person or

someone who's just trying to be a total jerk and two hes not able to read the sign after they have finished writing on

it so he does not know if the person who wrote on the sign wrote something offensive or actually helped him out.

Until he is ecstatic to hear all the change be thrown into his bucket. Personally I do think we should give in and help

some panhandlers because there are some where you can tell they are on drugs and or an alcoholic where they don't

need the money unlike people are homeless veterans or in that case a blindman who really needs the money. So I

mean we can't control the homeless people who stand out their and determine whether or not they truly need the

money, we basically have to base it of their sign and the words they use and also by the way they look.

Our government could not take care of the mentaly imppared, the beggars and the homeless

because there's no way to get rid of them. The government is not gonna want to help and give money out to

homeless that are druggies and alcoholics so they can be shellfish and waste it for themselves instead of

thinking of the bigger picture and seeing that the government is trying to give them help. The sad part about

this though is that there is no way of telling who is mentaly impaied or someone who is just begging for

money because most of them learn and see how the others do it based on the words the wrote. So let's say a

homeless vetran wrote he had served the country for twenty years and has bad ptsd and there's a beggar that

just put homeless, what do you think most people would help. In my opinion I would help the Vetran

because he not only served us but he's mentally having trouble. When homeless people see that they change

the wording and make it so that we feel like they are in desperate need of help. So with that if we can make

out who truly needs help do you really think the government would try to even help.
