(il) NWR's letter No M/233f304/Gondemnatfon dated 06.10.2017.
(iii) NR's latter No.51G.MfS311Pt.IIIJMW.1V dated 08.01.18.
DMW and Many diesel loco sheds are having large number of magnet frames of ™4906 as surplus
and these traction motors have been occupying precious working space within shed and shops.
In this context. DMW, vide letter under reference (I), had requested Railway B~rd for a policy decision
for disposal of ALeO type 4906/4907 Traction Motors due to huge increase in receipt of such TMsrrom Zonal
Railways.NWR and NR have also made similar requests, vide reference (ii) and (Hi) above.
It is further noted that TM 4906 is equipped with plain suspension bearing type which has become
obsolete now and all ALeO Diesel locomotives are equipped with roller suspension bearing. As such TM 4906
magnet frames are no longer required. On the other hand, TMs of 4907 type are going to continue in service
since ALGa Diesel locomotives even with conversion into Electric locomotiVes utilizes the same traction motors.
{a} Magnet frame of TM 4906 and other equivalent models lying surplus may be condemned as and
where basis by concerned Diesel sheds/workshops and DMW. .
(b) RefurbishmenUOverhauling magnet frame of TM 4907 and other equivalent models and Re-
shafting/Overhauling of armatures may be executed as per existing practice, if it is suitable
otherwise.
Accordingly, all Zonal Railways and DMW are requested to take further necessary action in this reoard
under intimation to Railway Board. W
