FORM 1:

CHAPTER 1: Integers, fractions and decimals.

Rational Numbers

When performing a computation involving combined operations of

integers, follow the order of operations below. ( BODMAS rules)

Directed numbers
(+) × (+) = (+) (+) ÷ (+) = (+)

(−) × (−) = (+) (−) ÷ (−) = (+)

(+) × (−) = (−) (+) ÷ (−) = (−)

(−) × (+) = (−) (−) ÷ (+) = (−)

CHAPTER 2: Factor of a given number is the number which can divide that number

Factors and exactly.

Multiples eg. Factors of 12 : 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12

Prime factors are factors that are also prime

numbers.

Prime factorization is way to express a

number in which is written as the product of
its prime factors.

Common factors and Highest Common Factors (HCF)

Multiples of a given number are the product of that number with any
non-zero whole number.

Eg. Multiples of 3: 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18,….

Common multiples and Lowest Common Multiples (LCM)

CHAPTER 1: Patterns are list of numbers or objects arranged based on a rule or

Pattern and design.

Sequences

Sequence is a set of numbers or objects which follows a certain

pattern.

The pattern of a sequence is the rule or design of the sequence.

Terms of the sequence:

CHAPTER 2: Expansion:

Factorisation and Multiplication of an algebraic expression with a term or an algebraic

Algebraic Fractions expression.
( + )= +
( + )( + ) = + + +
( + ) = +2 +
( − ) = −2 +
( + )( − ) = −

Factorization:

Factorization is the reverse process of an expansion.

2 − = (2 − )

+ 4 + 3 = ( + 1)( + 3)

− 36 = − 6 = ( + 6)( − 6)

+ + + = ( + )( + )

−2 + =( − )

Addition and subtraction of an algebraic fraction

The denominators of two algebraic fractions have to be common

before adding or subtracting take place.

Multiplication and distribution of an algebraic fraction

Factorise expression before division or multiplication when it is

necessary.

CHAPTER 3: Algebraic formulae connect the algebraic expression through addition,

Algebraic subtraction, multiplication and division in an equation form.

Formulae =3 −5

Subject of formula is represented by a letter. Subject of formula can be

changed according to the value of the variable.

A variable in the subject of formula can be obtained when the value of

the other variables is given.

Example: = , calculate R when = 24 , = 3 , = 4.

Thus, =2

Solving problem involves changing the subject of a formula,

combination of basic mathematical operation, square and square
root.

FORM 3:

CHAPTER 1:

Indices

CHAPTER 2: Significant figure shows the level of accuracy of a measurement.

Standard Form All digit are significant figures except the zero before the first non-zero
digit.

Eg. 0.0023 ( 2s.f) , 0.102 ( 3s.f) , 1.200 ( 4s.f) , 10306 ( 5s.f)

For integers, the value of the significant figure for zero as the last digit
depends on the required level of accuracy.

Eg. 93000 - 5s.f (nearest one) , 93000 – 3s.f ( nearest hundred)

Standard form is written as × 10 where 1 ≤ < 10 and is an integer.

23067 = 2.3067 × 10

0.000102 = 1.02 × 10

Basic operations ( + , − , × , ÷) involving numbers in standard form.

( ) × 10 ± × 10 = ± × 10

( ) ( × 10 ) × ( × 10 ) = × × 10

( ) ( × 10 ) ÷ ( × 10 ) = ÷ × 10

3. Liquidity aspects

Credit and Debt

Credit is a postponement of payment facility provided by the supplier

to the consumer.

Debt means an amount that has been borrowed but has not been
