Angle Measures: Arc Length

                                    Area of a Sector of a Circle

Length of a Circular Arc:
formula:   S = rθ where S = arc length
r = circle radius
θ = central angle
in RADIANS!!

Ex. Find the length of the intercepted arc in each circle with
he given central angle measure and radius.  Round to the
nearest tenth.

a.)  θ = π/4 r = 5cm

b.) θ = 60o r = 2in

c.) θ = 2π/3 r = 2m

d.) θ = 135o r = .5ft

e.) θ = π/3 r = 4in

f.) θ = 125o r = 7cm

Area of a Sector of a Circle:

The sector of a circle is a region bounded  by a central angle and
its intercepted arc.

Formula: A = ½r2θ A = Area (units squared!!)

r = radius
A θ = central angle in RADIANS!!!
