1 INTRODUCTION
GDK 11 Incline mine is located in the north central part of Ramagundam area, lies between
north latitude 180 41’ 30” and 180 41’ 10” and east longitude 790 32’58” and 790 34’54”. The full dip of
the seams is 1 in 8 to 1 in 10 in the direction of N 600 E .

This mine was opened on 15-02-1979. Production started from 25-09-1985. Total mine take area
is 9.01 Sq km with an idea to develop only No.1 seam by long wall method. 8 No of long wall panels
were developed with Road headers, and extracted with 3 Units.

In the year 1998 regrouping of mines took place and GDK 6B IGM was formed having two
sections namely GDK 6B and GDK11A section. Again GDK 11A section of GDK 6B IGM was renamed
as GDK 11 Incline in the year 2009 while annexing the some property of GDK 6B section to RG-OC III
extension project.

At GDK 11 Incline four numbers of seams are existing namely 1, 2, 3 & 4. At present Depillaring
with Continuous Miner Technology is under progress in No.1 seam. In No. 2 Seam there are no workings
as the quality is not good and declared as opencastable reserves,No.3 seam is being worked by
development with LHD (912) and No. 4 Seam is being worked by Depillaring with sand stowing LHD
(811).

Over the surface area, 3 No. of tanks, a seasonal nallah called Jallaram Vagu, PWD road, 3
villages namely Singareddypalli, Dubbapalli and Chandanapur Harijan vada are existing.

Two No's Man riding chair car systems:

1. From surface to 31L of 2 seam(1.4 km

2. In 35 tunnel 32L/2S to 24L/4S (0.250km).

Two No's man riding Chair-lift systems:

1. In No.3 Seam from 25L/0D/4S To 36BL/25D/3S (1.14 km)

2. In No.1 Seam from 33L/MID To 41L/6ID (1.00km)

MEN TRANSPORTATION

At the entrance of incline , there is Gyrometric trolley which will


transport workers to underground. The main purpose of Gmt is to reduce the time for
travelling and increase efficiency of workers.

Gmt will transport persons from surface to 30 level of seam 2. From that place we can go
to seam 1 , 3 and 4 .

From 30 level, there is tunnel which will connect seam 1 and 2 , and at the end of tunnel
there is chair lift which will used for travelling(distance more than 1 km).

From level 30 we can go to seam 3 and 4 by using gmt 2 at 31 level. In the seam 3 there is
chair lift which is used for distance more than 1km.

Material transoportation
• For material such as cement cuttable wire mess and wire mess, roof bolts etc are
transported by wagon(train ).
• For coal transporation there is a belt conveyer which will transport material from
underground to surface.
• Specification of belt conveyer : Belt angle = 16 degree (coal will not come out)

development and depillaring of eight Panels and ninth panel No.A-2 is under
progress.

Support system

• For the support of roof, roof bolts are used which is used to bind the coal to hard rock.
• For side support, glass reinforced fibre plastic bolts are used which can be cut by
continuous miner whose picks are made up of tnguston carbide wich will be damaged
by iron bolts
• If height of the gallery is more than 3.5m than 3 bolts are used otherwise 2 bolts are
used in staggering position.
• Lenth of iron bolts and grp bolts are1.8 or 2.4 m depending on the location and
diameter is 22 mm.
• At junction higher stress are there so more bolts are used ,
• Capacity of grp bolts are 6 tonnes
• Tiscog is used in junction in development whose base is iron and top is wooden
sleeper .
• Capacity of tiscog is 40 tonnes
• Location of weak and strong can also be determined by rode tapping which produce
different sound
• Wire mess and cuttable wiremess are used to stop falling of weak coal pieces on
workers.

Blasting Gallery Technology:

• At GDK11 Incline BG Method was started on 29.12.2002 and panel No. BG-K3 is under
extraction.
• In BG Panel , 7 faces are there i.e. 44L , 44A , 44B , 45L, 45A , 45B, 46L, 46 were
extracted . Each distance in development is 50m.
• Girder with hydraulic support is used in BG for support whose capacity is 40 ton.
• Girder to girder distances is 1.5m for normal and 1 m for weak roof.
• At junction 8 leg of hydraulic support .
• Roof bolts are also used as a primary support.
• Cable bolting is also used upto 9m .
• for strata monitoring , dual height tell tail are used whose scale 1 for 0 to 3m and scale 2
for 3 to 8 m
• In cable bolting 8m in coal and 1 m for rock drilling is done.
• Gallery height and width is 3m and 4.8m.
• 9m drilling is done for ring hole at a distance of 30ncm .
• Jump drills are used with 1.1mdrill rod.
• Total 4 lhds are used and 2 armoured chain conveyer at 44L AND 46L.
• In each hole 3.78kg of explosives are used (powergel).
• Goaf to juction, convergence rod are used at a distance of 10m . each level 3 rod are
maintained.
• 1.5m length of face is extracted in each blast.
• Each blast 500 ton coal is extracted .

Isolation stopping For seam 1

• It is used for separating panel which is already extracted from other developed panel.
• For prepation of this , 1m cavity is made in coal, 15 cm for stone and 30 cm for shale.
• It is also used for ventilation purpose.
• It is made by bricks and cement.

4 Seam

In 4 seam, so far 4 nos. of Depillaring Panels were completed with Sand stowing using
LHDs and fifth Panel No.4SS-4 is under progress.
