YOUNG ICCA SCHOLARSHIP REQUEST

Ever since I’ve culminated interest in the field of International Arbitration, MIDS,
Geneva has been a dream for me. I know that to truly call myself an expert in this
field I need to be a part of MIDS program at Geneva University Law School and
Graduate Institute of International Development Studies. I have always been
fascinated with the concept of professions beyond borders. MIDS Geneva will not
only open doors to Switzerland for me, but to entire Europe.

I first invoked an interest in International Arbitration when I attended a guest lecture

by Prof. Martin Hunter, who is an authority in International Commercial Arbitration,
at National Law University, Jodhpur. I realised that this is the field in which I can
truly be an international lawyer.

I have a strong sense of belongingness to any community I become part of. In my

alma mater i.e. National Law University, Jodhpur I have held administrative roles in
Placement Committee and Legal Aid Committee. Being member of Legal Aid
Committee of NLU, Jodhpur was especially fruitful for me as I had the chance to get
myself involved in public service. While being associated with Legal Aid Committee
for a period of 1 year, I was required to visit rural and urban downtrodden areas of
Rajasthan, to talk with people of these areas about their legal rights and remedies. I
have also been associated with an organization called ‘Increasing Diversity by
Increasing Access’, which was initiated to reach out to marginalized and
underprivileged groups and to sensitize them to law as viable career option. The
organization helps interested students from these groups to acquire admission in
prestigious National Law Schools of India. In the future I want to get associated with
Teach for India campaign where individuals from various fields do part-time
volunteering to teach children in different villages of India, where educational and
schooling facilities are not available or not up to the mark. I believe that MIDS
program will expand my horizons as well as help me in increasing my income
significantly so that I can donate a considerable amount to these philanthropic
works.

However to completely dedicate myself to the MIDS program and honing my skills to
another level financial assistance is very important to me. I want to self-sufficiently
raise funds for my further education without putting much financial constraints on
my parents. Also this year my father will be retiring from his job position, which will
lead to a slump in our household income. Since MIDS Geneva program has quite
costly fees structure, add to that high living expenses in Switzerland, I believe that
any kind of financial assistance or partial fees waiver would help me in realising my
true potential. Young ICCA Scholarship will ensure that I fulfil my dreams and truly
realise my passion.
