From: Yeskina Ekaterina (Prospective student)

Subject: Letter of motivation

Dear Mr. Lewandowski,

My name is Ekaterina Yeskina, with this letter of motivation, I would like to state my interest in studying
at Jagiellonian University especially the Faculty of International Relations. At this point I am seventeen
years old, almost finishing my studies as a translator and looking for my place in the world. A few years
ago I started to be interested in public affairs and wanted to know what was going on in the world. I have
been encouraged to pursue concentrated study due to my incredible fascination with the impact that
political decision making has on humanity. Politics affects our lives more than we realise, one
government policy can affect a lot of people. And so, I hope to continue my studies in higher education
and transfer my skills and knowledge to a professional environment. After all, who is going to solve the
multifaceted problems and issues of world and foreign policy of my country in the future?

I am interested in your international relations program, especially the study of global economic,
environmental, demographic and migration processes, and I want to learn the basics of diplomatic and
business protocol and etiquette and apply them in practice. I know that many great people have graduated
from your university, for example the current president of the Republic of Poland, the politician - Andrzej
Duda, Nicolaus Copernicus, King John II, Pope John Paul II - all of them are graduates of the Jagiellonian
University.

I am a highly motivated student who knows how to balance social and professional commitments, skills
which I believe are essential for university life, a challenge for which I know I am ready. I am eager to
study International relations as it encompasses the social-scientific subjects for which I have developed
great interest and passion. I find it a fascinating area which would open up a number of potential career
paths. My ultimate ambition is to work for an International Organisation such as the United Nations, an
EU institution or an NGO. Gaining an in-depth understanding and the necessary specialist knowledge
would give me the opportunity to contribute in an area which I consider compelling and rewarding.

Napoleon Bonaparte once said, ‘’Ambition is of little account without opportunity’’. This quote has
always struck deeply with me, as it can be interpreted in various ways, but the message remains that we
should seize all opportunities presented to us, enabling us to be the best we can be. I intend to do this by
studying International Relations.

Ultimately, If I am chosen to study at university I hope to be an active member of many social activities,
such as debating and charity fundraising. I also hope to extend my cultural knowledge, my English ability
and acquire new skills and hobbies. Lastly, I would like to graduate from university with greater
knowledge and I would be equipped with the essential tools and techniques of research to analyze
emerging situations and issues. While, I would be prepared to comprehend multifaceted issues of the
contemporary domestic, world politics and foreign policy issues enabling them to establish a viable and
forceful link between theory, concepts and practices in the field of Governance, Research, and
International entities engaged in Business, Social and Humanitarian services. I am optimistic to secure
admission at this prestigious University.

Finally, I have attached my current resume for your further consideration, so please do not hesitate to
contact me if you have any further questions. I can be contacted confidentially at +7 701 988 65 94 or by
