The Effects of Bullying in Academic

Performance of Cookery and SMAW

Students in the PCIST.
INTRODUCTION

According to a 2017 research by Scientific Research Publishing done by Margaret S.

Sanapo of the College of Policy Science, Ritsumeikan University, Ibaraki-Osaka, Japan,
“40.6% or roughly four out of 10 Filipino children experienced bullying from their peers.
This prevalence rate is comparable to two studies done in the Philippines (Jacobsen &
Fleming, 2009; Rudatsikira et al., 2008). As stated in philipinesgraphic.net, bullying is
about aggression. Many people refuse to report the incidents, thinking they’re only
child’s play. Bullying exists in all communities since long time ago. It is also considered
a common form of violence, especially in schools. Furthermore, bullying may involve
many forms or sections verbal, physical, assaults, threats, jokes or language, and
criticizing. It is well known that bullying is difficult to eliminate in schools because it is
used by students. School bullying is a widespread issue in PCIST. It’s a constantly
problem of every student of Cookery and SMAW in the Pasig City Institute of Science
and Technology. This is one of the factors faced in everyday life of a PCIST student.

Bullying at school affects the academic performance of a student since they feel fear
and weak at the same time. Therefore, the victims of bullying is cannot pay attention
well in school activities. Moreover they miss opportunities to participate with their
colloquies or even enjoy school activities

In this research we will learn the effects of bullying in academic performance of PCIST
students. We also conduct this study to find a solution to minimize the problem. To
encourage every student like us to not shrug or take action if they feel bullied. We
hoped that this research could enlighten the school administration to form a program
for their students who is victim of bullying.
