Doña Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez Mexican Independence Heroine

Doña Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez, a Mexican patriot as well as a heroine of

Mexico’s Independence War, made her name in history for her bravery when
she risked her own life alerting the rebel insurgents about the discovery of the
Queretaro Conspiracy for Independence.

Thanks to her, Father Miguel Hidalgo moved forward [accelerative] the date in
which the Independence movement would start to the early hours of September
16th, 1810. Without her timely [opportune] notice, the struggle for
independence would have been discovered and the efforts of the conspirators
would never have achieved their ultimate purpose: Mexico’s Independence
from the Spanish Crown.

Maria de la Natividad Giron Josefa Ortiz is best known as Doña Josefa Ortiz de
Dominguez, “La Corregidora” (the Chief Magistrate) of Queretaro. She was the
daughter of the Spaniards Juan Jose Ortiz and Maria Manuela Giron.

She was born in Valladolid– what is now Morelia– in 1768 and was raised in
Mexico City. Her parents died when she was a small child so her older sister
Maria Sotero was granted [agree to] custody. Maria enrolled her sister in the
Colegio de las Vizcaínas, a very prestigious school to which she was accepted
because she was a criolla, creole, that is, the children of Spaniards born in the
New Spain.

While still a college student she met Miguel Dominguez, a widower who often
visited the school. They fell in love and were married secretly in 1791; they had
14 children.

[Widower definition is - a man who has lost his spouse - wife - or partner by death and
usually has not remarried.]

As secretary of the Royal Court, Miguel Dominguez was subsequently

appointed magistrate of Queretaro in 1802 where the family settled. They
quickly won over [persuaded] the sympathy of the Queretaro society of the
time, joining various social groups.

It is well known that Doña Josefa was vehemently against the abuse that the
Spaniards– that is, the European-born Spaniards – exercised over the natives
considering and treating them as second-class citizens. She always identified
with the native’s social problems, for they were relegated to secondary positions
in public administration as well as in the military.

Jose Maria Morelos y Pavón

Mexican War of Independence Heroe

José María Morelos y Pavón was born in Valladolid (now Morelia) in 1765.

He was a Mexican religious, military and politician, leader of the revel

Independence war in Mexico. After the death of father Miguel Hidalgo in 1811,
José María assumed leadership of the independence movement and achieved
important victories in the south.

Through the Congress of Anahuac in Chilpancingo, Morelos tried to give

political form to his ideals of equality and justice and he presented them in the
Sentiments of the Nation. This document declared Mexico an independent
nation freed [autonomous] of Spanish rule.

Congress approved on October 22, 1814, in Apatzingán, the first Constitution of

Mexico, but Morelos deemed [estimated] it imperfect because of its
impracticality.

José María Morelos was the son of Creole Juana María Pérez Pavón and Manuel
Morelos a carpenter of indigenous descent.

In 1779 with the death of his father, José María’s life underwent [experienced]
major changes. Under the care of his uncle Felipe Morelos, he moved to
Apatzingán to a farm and where he farmed and herd [drive] mules. The latter
activity provided an income that could support his mother and sister.

When he was 25 years old in 1790, at the insistence of his mother, he left his
uncle Felipe and returned to Valladolid to enroll in the college of San Nicolas.
There he met [contacted, converged] the rector Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla.

He studied Latin and grammar, and two years later continued his studies at the
Tridentate Seminary, where he received instruction in philosophy and rhetoric.

On April 28, 1795 in Mexico City, he received the degree of Bachelor of Arts.

In April 1796 in Uruapan, he accepted an offer to teach rhetoric and grammar

to local children. After several years in the teaching field, on December 20, 1797
at 32 years of age, he was promoted to the priesthood [vocation], obtaining
license to hear confessions, celebrate Mass and preach [sermonize] in Uruapan.

[«Mass », in Spanish, «(religión) misa»].

Morelos then began his career as a priest [ecclesiastic] and in March 1799 was
transferred to the parish [community] of Carácuaro, where he lived for more
than a decade living of contributions from parishioners [congregations] and
administering the parish.

During this period and after the death of his mother, he managed and grew the
cattle [in Spanish, ‘ganado (vacuno)’] business he had started with his uncle; he
transferred ownership of the family home to his sister and managed the estate
[property] of his mother. Also at this time he had two illegitimate children.

In October 1810, knowing of the uprising [revolution] of Father Hidalgo, he

decided to join him. During his visit, Hidalgo, asked him to head [command]
south to the coast and gather troops to capture the port of Acapulco.

On October 25 accompanied by little more than twenty men, Morelos left

Carácuaro to Acapulco as Hidalgo’s lieutenant [substitute].

For five years Jose Maria Morelos fought as an insurgent. He headed four
military campaigns in addition to his work as a great political and social thinker.
He was known as a military genius, cruel and ruthless [unfeeling], able to stand
and defeat the Spanish army that significantly outnumbered [be more
numerous than] his men.

The insurgents suffered several defeats and on November 5, 1815 Colonel

Manuel de la Concha captured Morelos in Temazlaca. He was taken to Mexico
City in shackles [restrictions] where he was tried and executed by firing squad
[squadron] on December 22, 1815 in San Cristobal Ecatepec.

Vicente Guerrero continued the Independence movement.

Jose María Morelos y Pavón is a national hero. In his honor, the state of Morelos
and city of Morelia are named after him and bills and coins bear [present] his
image today.

During colonial times, Veracruz was of great importance since it was here from
where the ships departed to Spain loaded with gold, treasures and other
merchandise [products] in the denominated “West Indies Run.” This led
[guided] Veracruz to be attacked by pirates several times. In order to repel the
attacks, the city was surrounded by a wall and a series or forts and bulwark
[protection] were built. One of these forts was the San Juan de Ulúa Fortress,
built in 1590.

In 1607, the port received the status of city, ratified in 1640 by King Felipe II,
becoming then, one of the most ancient cities in Mexico. In that same year, the
Armada de Barlovento was created to defend the littoral from pirates. Veracruz
has been the seat [center, capital] of the Federation Executive Power twice – 1858
and 1914. In 1897, the Naval Academy was founded in this city by initiative of
Jose Maria de la Vega Gonzales, chief of the Naval Department.

Isla de sacrificios (Island of Sacrifices) is located in the

city of Veracruz

-Isla de Sacrificios: the name evokes the religious ceremonies that developed
pre-Hispanic men in this portion of land, surrounded by clear waters and exotic
coralbanks.

Archeological excavations in the area have confirmed the performance of

religious rites, having found traces of burials and temple foundations Totonac,
but with the arrival of the Spanish, the island became in the repair of the colonial
ships.

Later, during the so-called Pastry War in 1838 (the first war with France) was
the starting point of the attacks Gauls. Later, the area would be occupied by U.S.
troops who invaded Mexico twice.

The Island of Sacrifice is the most important of which are located off Veracruz.

Everyone Is Watching
- By Brian Tracy

During a crunch point [moment of truth], everyone is watching you. Everyone

is especially sensitive to what you do and say. If you are the head of your family
or the leader of your business, your emotions and behavior [comportment,
conduct] set the tone for everyone else. How you behave [perform] triggers
[produces] similar behaviors and reactions in others.

In more than fifty years of research, Dr. Edward Banfield of Harvard University
found that the key determinant of success, happiness, and character is a
person’s time perspective. This was defined as how far into the future you
looked when you decided on your present actions.

Superior men and women have a long time perspective. They think and project
weeks, months, and years into the future. They look at everything they do in the
present as part of a process that can have significant consequences in the future.

Attention is the beginning of devotion.

Mary Oliver

Aerodynamics presented an easy case, Christopher Norris says, with which to

refute the idea that paradigms can’t communicate. Progress may have been
jerky [irregular], but it seemed to him quite obviously continuous. He decided
to take on a more difficult case: the threat to realism presented by the modern
science of quantum mechanics. Physicists working in the first decades of the
20th century had made a number of strange discoveries: among them that the
nature of light seemed to change according to how it was observed, one
measurement showing it as particle-like, another showing it as wave-like.
Christopher Norris begins his discussion of this challenge to realism with a
description of one of the crucial demonstrations of this wave/particle duality.
David Cayley

Well, the packet [container] is both a wave and a particle until you take a
measurement. If you put a particle detector in its path, then it will register as
the passage of a particle. If you put an oscilloscope or oscillograph in its path, it
will show up [highlight] as a waveform. The result will depend on the means of
measurement − from which orthodox [conventional, traditional] quantum
physicists derive the message that it's act [action] of observation that determines
the outcome [result] of the observation, which in turn determines the nature of
the thing being observed.

Allan Young conducted field research at this Veterans Administration hospital

in the American Midwest over a three-year period. In 1995, he published The
Harmony of Illusions. The book reports on his research, but it also relates the
history of the idea of traumatic memory, a history that reaches back into the
19th century.
David Cayley

… Contradictions are not merely eliminated; they become mistakes that are
regarded [observed] as a breakdown [interruption]. Thus today we must
expand Galileo’s description of modern scientific method by saying: to measure
everything measurable; to make everything which is not measurable
measurable; and to deny [refuse] everything which cannot be made measurable.
Pietschmann, H.

There are two objectionable types of believers: those who believe the incredible

Some methods, such as those governing the design of experiments or the

statistical treatment of data, can be written down [writing] and studied. But
many methods are learned only through personal experience and interactions
with other scientists. Some are even harder [difficult] to describe or teach. Many
of the intangible influences on scientific discovery—curiosity, intuition,
creativity—largely [basically] defy [confront, challenge] rational analysis, yet
[until now] they are often [frequently] the tools that scientists bring to their

Writing abilities - essential abilities for school and career

Writing is a form of communication, but also a learning instrument. Writing

develops the capacity of concentration. Free writing develops creativity and
imagination, writing on a subject develops the capacity of orientation towards
a purpose, the analysis and the synthesis, as well as the capacity of reflection.

Knowing to efficiently communicate in written form is one of the most

important abilities necessary in different contexts (school, workplace, business,
and formal situations). Many times, we are in the situation of writing an e-mail,
a report, a CV, or a letter of intention.

Well-developed writing abilities represent a plus in life. People able to

communicate efficiently in writing are more appreciated at the work place. They
create a good impression and they become more valuable.

Excellent writing skills means:

1. Better chances to successfully send messages;

2. Efficient communication with the others;
3. Increased authority and better impression on the others;
4. Any intellectual activity demands written expression, reason why it is
clearly “a life qualification”.

Teaching aims of a poem

- realize [understand] the tight [firm] link between Poetry
and Life.

1. The student shall realize that the poem functions as a means of

communication between the poet and the reader. The student, moreover
[additionally], can be transferred intellectually into [towards] the poet’s
world of reference. Therefore [Consequently], the poet’s experience may
become as well the reader’s experience - in this specific case, the reader is
the student.

2. The students may develop all the necessary links between the given poem
and their personal experiences.

3. The student may understand that the interpretation of a poem constitutes

a personal issue, since there may be several and various approaches.
Furthermore [In addition], the student may realize that the interpretation
of a poem is not characterized by the safety of a scientific explanation of
a natural phenomenon and it cannot be considered as absolute.

4. While the student tries to interpret a poem, communicates and cooperates

with his/her classmates [colleagues, fellow student]. This fact makes
him/her more tolerant towards a different point of view and in general,
more open-minded to accept the “different”, having a positive impact
also in his/her daily life.

Go to: https://sites.google.com/site/mcenriqueruizdiaz/ Página 43 de 87

Leadership of 100 and 5 Stars -- 21 -- Ed. 2.0

5. The student may enjoy the aesthetical [esthetic, artistic, visual] reality,
which is endorsed [validated, permitted] in the poem.

6. The student may become familiar with the eternal humanistic values–
ethical and aesthetical–being part of a self-awareness process.

7. The student may acquire critical thinking through the study of a poem.

8. The student may perceive the value of the poetic wording [phraseology,
expression, language] – and of course, every wording–which contributes
in the formulation of a word scheme, which in combination with other
word schemes, creates a functional whole. [Attention: Leadership & 100
and 5 Stars].

9. The student learns to express himself/herself concerning the poem

through the poem itself.

10. The student may understand that the poet is active and present, has a
fighting [rebellious] spirit, feels empathy [identification] for the fellow
[colleague], is not influenced by compromises, distinguishes the
“beautiful” from the “fake [false]” and strives [make every effort] against
injustice.

The OECD
- Organization for Economic Co-operation and
Development

The OECD: What is it?

The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development is a unique

forum where the governments of 30 market democracies work together to
address [speak to, attend to] the economic, social and governance challenges of
globalization as well as to exploit its opportunities (www.oecd.org/about).

The Organization provides a setting [scenery] where governments can compare

policy experiences, seek answers to common problems, identify good practice
and co-ordinate domestic and international policies. It is a forum where peer
[colleague] pressure can act as a powerful incentive to improve policy and
which produces internationally-agreed instruments, decisions and
recommendations in areas where multilateral agreement is necessary for
individual countries to make progress in a globalized economy. Non-members
are invited to subscribe to these agreements and treaties.

Exchanges between OECD governments flow from information and analysis

provided by a secretariat in Paris. The secretariat collects data, monitors trends
[tendencies], and analyses and forecasts [predicts] economic developments. It
also researches social changes or evolving patterns in trade, environment,
agriculture, technology, taxation [tax system] and more.

The OECD helps governments to foster [cultivate] prosperity and fight poverty
through economic growth, financial stability, trade and investment, technology,
innovation, entrepreneurship and development co-operation. It is helping to
ensure [safeguard] that the environmental implications of economic and social
development are taken into [towards] account [explanation, report]. Other aims
include creating jobs for everyone, social equity [justice] and achieving clean
and effective governance.

The OECD is at the forefront [front position] of efforts to understand, and to

help governments to respond to, new developments and concerns. These
include trade and structural adjustment, online security, and the challenges
related to reducing poverty in the developing world.

For more than 40 years, the OECD has been one of the world’s largest and most
reliable [consistent, trustworthy] sources of comparable statistical, economic
and social data. OECD databases span [extend over] areas as diverse as national
accounts [financial records], economic indicators, trade, employment,
migration, education, energy, health and the environment. Much of the research
and analysis is published.

Go to: https://sites.google.com/site/mcenriqueruizdiaz/ Página 54 de 87

Leadership of 100 and 5 Stars -- 21 -- Ed. 2.0

Over the past decade, the OECD has tackled [faced] a range of economic, social
and environmental issues while further [beyond, ahead of] deepening
[developing] its engagement with business, trade unions and other
representatives of civil society. Negotiations at the OECD on taxation and
transfer pricing, for example, have paved [covered] the way for bilateral tax
treaties around the world.

The OECD is a group of like-minded [in agreement, compatible] countries.

Essentially, membership is limited only by a country’s commitment to a market
economy and a pluralistic democracy. It is rich, in that its 30 members produce
almost 60% of the world’s goods and services, but it is by no means exclusive.
Non-members are invited to subscribe to OECD agreements and treaties, and
the Organization shares expertise and exchanges views on topics of mutual
concern with more than 100 other countries and economies. In May 2007, OECD
countries agreed to invite Chile, Estonia, Israel, Russia and Slovenia to open
discussions for membership of the Organization and offered enhanced
engagement, with a view to possible membership, to Brazil, China, India,
Indonesia and South Africa.

Canadian Bank Note Company, Limited - Philosophy

Communication of ERD: our present theme is obtained from a

document of «Canadian Bank Note Company, Limited». Now, that
document, which is obtainable, at the present time – 30 August 2019 -,
from its url direction, which is presented below.
__ __ __

The 7 core principles that are the foundation of our Philosophy and the means
to achieving our values are: (1) Reason, (2) Integrity, (3) Honesty, (4)
Independence, (5) Justice, (6) Productivity, and (7) Pride. The first part of the
Booklet [Brochure, Catalogue] explains these principles and why they are of
crucial importance to CBN [Canadian Bank Note]. The latter part, applying the
Fundamental Concepts, illustrates how the principles apply to some of our
more important management practices.
__ __ __

Fundamental Concepts: Vision, Mission, Purpose, Values

1. VISION - To make the world a safer place to live in and to do business in

by being the technological leader in the supply of solutions aimed at
preventing the fraud [dishonesty] associated with using secure
[protected] documents and systems.

Go to: https://sites.google.com/site/mcenriqueruizdiaz/ Página 58 de 87

Leadership of 100 and 5 Stars -- 21 -- Ed. 2.0

2. MISSION - Provide our CUSTOMERS with superior, secure documents,

software systems, and hardware devices that will stop document fraud
and related criminal activity. Create a place where our EMPLOYEES can
learn, grow, and be fulfilled in their work. Optimize long-term return to
our SHAREHOLDERS [Owners, Proprietors, Savers, and Investors] by
delivering above average returns on shareholders’ equity [fair play].
Ensure that each CBN Business Division has a clear, specific statement of
mission supporting this financial objective. Conduct our business affairs
[businesses, activities] in a principled, ethical manner according to our 7
CORE PRINCIPLES.

3. PURPOSE - Our ultimate purpose is to create and maintain an

economically viable company that is competitively strong and delivers
above average financial returns. The ultimate purpose must be measured
economically; as to survive, Canadian Bank Note needs to be able to
stand [persist] on its own two feet financially. We must generate the cash
[moneys] to pay employees and suppliers and for the new equipment and
facilities [resources] to keep us competitive. The source of all our
revenues [incomes, profits] and shareholder value is our customers, and
to get and keep customers requires providing the best products and
services that we are capable of supplying [providing]. Outstanding
[Excellent] products require outstanding employees. To attract and retain
the right employees requires that we reward them financially and
provide an environment in which they can learn and grow.

Go to: https://sites.google.com/site/mcenriqueruizdiaz/ Página 59 de 87

Leadership of 100 and 5 Stars -- 21 -- Ed. 2.0

4. VALUES - We value what is important to us and we fight [engage in

battle] for our values because we know that they are essential for our
success and happiness. In broad terms, our values are embodied
[represented] in the statements of our Vision, Mission, and Purpose. More
specifically, our values are expressed in terms of our product, market,
profit, organizational, and other goals. How we achieve our values is
through following the 7 core principles that we have chosen. We have
selected time-enduring principles that can be clearly understood and
serve as the basis for all of our actions. These principles are consistent
with each other and practicing one necessitates all the others. Our focus
on principles grows from our belief that ideas matter and that an
individual’s character is of critical significance. Principled action is
important in achieving our values at Canadian Bank Note.

Seven Core Principles

- The Means [Resources] to Our Ends

1. Reason

To achieve our goals requires that we think clearly and make good choices. We
must size up [evaluate] situations, solve problems, make decisions, and provide
for contingencies. In other words, we must think logically and be focused on
reality. The design of our products and processes must be thought through in
great detail so that our customers can rely on [be certain of] them. To keep our
customers, our products must meet their specifications and perform better than
those of our competitors.

We must recognize the importance of individual employees who stand out

[project] as thinkers. We all benefit from their brilliance. We must also recognize
the importance of teamwork and specialization. Many tasks require more than
one person to be successfully accomplished.

Our focus on reason does not mean that we should not be passionate about our
work. Emotion provides the motivation to accomplish many tasks. However, it
is important that this emotion comes from sound [complete] reasoning based
on a solid understanding of the facts and not on hollow [insignificant] wishes
and conflicting goals. The right emotions are those that arise from well thought-
out goals and values, and flow from the self-confidence that results from
knowing that we are following the right and just course of action.

Go to: https://sites.google.com/site/mcenriqueruizdiaz/ Página 61 de 87

Leadership of 100 and 5 Stars -- 21 -- Ed. 2.0

Rudyard Kipling in his famous poem “If” captures well the balance between
reason and emotion.

“If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it
on you...you’ll be a Man, my son!”

Achieving a sense of control over our lives and business increases our self-
esteem and results in positive, motivating emotions.

We should not accept that our ability to think is fixed [immobile] at birth by our
IQ. To the contrary, there is much evidence that we can improve our reasoning
ability by training and by taking the effort to think. There is also much truth in
the saying “Use it or lose it.” - [Leadership & 100 and 5 Stars]
__ __ __

2. Integrity

Integrity means acting in accordance with our beliefs and principles. It means
keeping our promises to others but it requires more; it mandates being true to
ourselves and to what we stand for [signify, represent], to our convictions and
to our values. Integrity means following through on our commitments to deliver
high quality products on time and it means meeting deadlines [time limit] and
budgets [financial plan] for projects. Practicing integrity requires confidence—
confidence in our ability to do the right thing and in our ability to perform.

3. Honesty

Clear thinking requires access to facts as they are, not as we wish or pretend
them to be. If we hide [put out of sight] from the facts, we will never make the
changes that continuous improvement necessitates. Honesty requires a focus on
reality and a passion for getting at the facts.

Sergeant Friday in the old Dragnet series is famous for saying, “Just give us the
facts ma’am, nothing but the facts.”

Honesty means not faking [falsifying] reality. Honesty above all requires
courage because facing the facts is not always pleasant [enjoyable] and can meet
with the disapproval of those who hear them. People will not deal with [take
care of] us if they cannot trust us, and they won't trust us if they cannot believe
what we say.

Both business and personal success are based on being able to tell the truth—
say what you mean [signify, propose] and mean what you say. Facts must be
understood in a context and as we are not omniscient [well-informed] we can
always make honest mistakes. When we do, we must correct the errors.
Nevertheless [However], we should always courageously face the world as it is.
Honesty must be one of the pillars of our success at CBN [Canadian Bank Note],
so that those with whom we deal [do business], both inside and outside of CBN,
know that we speak the truth.

4. Independence

Each of us is responsible for our actions and our character, and thereby [in that
way] for our successes and our failures. At CBN, we must strive [make every
effort] to continuously improve, to do better than we have in the past, and to
surpass our competitors. Doing better requires creative ideas and these can only
come from individuals who think for themselves, and strive to always
understand the world for themselves. Working in groups and on teams is the
only way to get some work accomplished but even then ideas do not come from
groups, they come from the individuals on the team. As individuals and as a
company, we must trail-blaze [make tracks of light] and be leaders in thought
and action. Just because the crowd [multitude] says it’s so, doesn’t make it so.
__ __ __

5. Justice

To be just is to be fair [objective, reasonable]. If CBN is to prosper, fairness

[objectivity] has to be the cornerstone [foundation] supporting all of our
relationships, be they with other employees or with individuals and
organizations dealing with CBN, such as customers and suppliers. Employees
who are treated fairly [objectively, impartially] are motivated to give their best
and to stay with CBN. Treating employees fairly requires that they be evaluated
individually and rewarded objectively based on their performance and
adherence to our values. We need to find ways to recognize and reward
appropriately those who contribute more. At CBN we evaluate based on
essentials such as competency, performance, and character, and not on non-
essentials such as race, sex, nationality, etc.

6. Productivity

Productivity measures the value that each of us contributes to the results of CBN
[Canadian Bank Note]. Each of us must contribute more in value than it costs to
have us on the payroll [employees, labor force]. Ultimately, our economic value
is determined by our customers. What our customers are willing to pay depends
on how the customer values our products and services compared to those
offered by our competitors.

Productivity requires that we continually improve our work and supply our
customers with outstanding [excellent] competitive value. Knowing how
productive we are requires measurement. Profitability [Effectiveness,
Productivity] and return on shareholders’ equity [fair play] are good measures
of productivity since they are powerful indicators of our competitiveness. We
need to be willing to be measured and compared, as keeping score is a necessary
part of doing better work.

Hard work and creativity are essential ingredients to being more productive.
We need to know our strengths [powers, potencies] and contribute according to
our abilities. Specialization improves productivity by expert employees
focusing on the work they do best. All of us need to recognize the need for a
variety of different skills to produce our products. This cannot happen without
extensive co-operation and teamwork.

7. Pride [Self-importance]

Pride is the emotional reward that we get for living by our principles. In this
sense, pride occurs as a result of practicing the other six principles. If we practice
integrity and stay true to our word, or if we improve the production process,
we feel proud of ourselves and of CBN [Canadian Bank Note].

According to Aristotle, there is a complimentary view of pride in which pride

precedes all of the other principles. To be proud (not arrogant) means to value
yourself or CBN enough to want to make improvements in your character or in
CBN, i.e., to be morally ambitious. The improvements are accomplished by
practicing the other six principles.

Our pride in CBN makes us want CBN to act more fairly, to be more honest and
to have the best possible reputation with our customers. Each of us must
perform our work in a manner so as to be able to be justly [reasonably, correctly]
proud of what we have accomplished. CBN must be the kind of organization
with which each employee and customer can be pleased to be associated.

Commitment to Education

Competitive advantage is largely [fundamentally] in the minds of our

employees. We are committed to making a substantial investment [financing]
in employee education to create a “knowledge-based learning organization”
founded on the premise that knowledge properly applied is the source of
superior performance.

We believe in systematized learning founded on Aristotle’s concept that

“excellence is an art won by training and habituation.” The goal is for each
employee to be an expert in performing his or her role, by mastering all aspects
of the work.

Each individual should perform to his or her full capabilities.

STEVE EMBER: Louis Kahn helped define modern architecture. Architecture is

the art and science of designing and building structures such as houses,
museums, and office buildings. Kahn’s architecture has several defining
qualities.

Leadership of 100 and 5 Stars -- 21 -- Ed. 2.0

For example, Kahn was very interested in the look and feel of the materials he
used. He used brick and concrete in new and special ways. Kahn also paid
careful attention to the use of sunlight. He liked natural light to enter his
buildings through interesting kinds of windows and openings. Kahn’s work can
also be identified by his creative use of geometric shapes. Many of his buildings
use squares, circles and three sided shapes called triangles.

BARBARA KLEIN: Louis Kahn was born in Estonia in nineteen-oh-one. When

he was five years old his family moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Even as
a child, Louis Kahn showed excellence as an artist. When he was in school his
pictures won several competitions organized by the city. In high school, Kahn
studied architecture briefly. He later went to the University of Pennsylvania and
studied architecture full time. He graduated in nineteen twenty-four.

16 “Woe to you, blind guides, who say, ‘If anyone swears [affirms] by the
temple, it is nothing; but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is under
obligation.

17 Fools and blind ones! Which, in fact, is greater, the gold or the temple that
has sanctified the gold? 18 Moreover, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it is
nothing; but if anyone swears by the gift on it, he is under obligation.’

19 Blind ones! Which, in fact, is greater, the gift or the altar that sanctifies the
gift?

20 Therefore, whoever swears by the altar is swearing [affirming] by it and by

all the things on it;

Catechism [Religious education]

Faith is a grace
When St. Peter confessed that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, Jesus
declared to him that this revelation did not come "from flesh [epidermis, skin]
and blood [body fluid]", but from "my Father who is in heaven". Faith is a gift
of God, a supernatural virtue infused [inculcated] by him. "Before this faith can
be exercised, man must have the grace of God to move and assist him; he must
have the interior helps of the Holy Spirit, who moves the heart and converts it
to God, who opens the eyes of the mind and 'makes it easy for all to accept and
believe the truth.'"
__ __ __

Faith and science: "Though faith is above reason, there can never be any real
discrepancy between faith and reason. Since the same God who reveals
mysteries and infuses [inculcates] faith has bestowed [presented] the light of
reason on the human mind, God cannot deny himself, nor can truth ever [all the
time] contradict truth." "Consequently, methodical research in all branches of
knowledge, provided it is carried out [performed] in a truly scientific manner
and does not override [dominate, take priority over] moral laws, can never
conflict with the faith, because the things of the world and the things of faith
derive from the same God. The humble [respectful] and persevering
investigator of the secrets of nature is being led, as it were, by the hand of God
in spite of himself, for it is God, the conserver of all things, who made them
what they are."

__ __ __

The freedom of faith

To be human, "man's response to God by faith must be free, and... therefore

[consequently] nobody is to be forced to embrace [incorporate] the faith against
his will. The act of faith is of its very nature a free act." "God calls men to serve
him in spirit and in truth. Consequently they are bound [connected] to him in
conscience, but not coerced [forced]... This fact received its fullest manifestation
in Christ Jesus." Indeed, Christ invited people to faith and conversion, but never
coerced them.
__ __ __

Faith is a personal adherence of the whole man to God who reveals himself. It
involves an assent [agreement] of the intellect and will to the self-revelation God
has made through his deeds [activities, performances] and words. "To believe"
has thus [consequently] a twofold [double] reference: to the person, and to the
truth [veracity]: to the truth, by trust in the person who bears [supports] witness
[observe] to it. We must believe in no one but God: the Father, the Son and the
Holy Spirit.

The Bible.

Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend, that you may know
prudence.

2 I will give you a good gift, forsake [abandon] not my law.

3 For I also was my father's son, tender [loving], and as an only son in the sight
of my mother:

4 And he taught me, and said: Let thy heart receive my words, keep my
commandments, and thou shalt live.

5 Get wisdom, get prudence: forget not, neither decline from the words of my
mouth.

6 Forsake [Desert] her not, and she shall keep thee: love her, and she shall
preserve thee.

7 The beginning of wisdom, get wisdom, and with all thy possession purchase
prudence.

8 Take hold on [keep] her, and she shall exalt thee: thou shalt be gloried by her,
when thou shalt embrace [include] her.

9 She shall give to thy head increase of graces, and protect thee with a noble
crown.

10 Hear, O my son, and receive my words, that years of life may be multiplied
to thee.

11 I will shew thee the way of wisdom, I will lead thee by the paths of equity:

[compressed], and when thou runnest [firmest], thou shalt not meet a stumbling
[uncertain] block.

13 Take hold on [persevere] instruction, leave it not: keep it, because it is thy

14 Be not delighted in the paths of the wicked [severe], neither let the way of

21 Quien busca justicia y bondad | encontrará vida y gloria.

«I formulated a project for the CBTIS (Technological Industrial and of Services

Library of this Institution with five volumes of English language, of my authorship. A
book for each semester, from the first English book to fifth English book (according to
the plan of studies in this regard of the CBTIS). At no cost to the Institution, because this
is a donation (in the staff, I solve my expenses of the project with income of my
employment as a professor that I would be in this CBTIS).
One of the major advantages of this project is to solve the need of the student
of spending in books of English language because the books will be at your complete

Afterward, in an immediate subsequent phase of this project is that among the
student community of this CBTIS and all the CBTIS of the United Mexican States will
