Welcome to Grade 1! You will receive a monthly classroom newsletter at the beginning of each month, which will keep you updated about the learning outcomes, and
projects we are working on. Projects are done during class time, however, I will be requesting some materials or pictures in advance.
Our main communication will be by:
✔ Agenda: daily school, classroom message, learning practices and parent messages.
✔ Classroom Website (Blog): Address for website will be sent home in the agenda in the coming weeks. This website will keep you updated on classroom
projects, special days, photos, and useful links to enhance practice of curriculum concepts at home.

In Math: Our unit is called PATTERNS. The students will build on their understanding of repeating patterns by:
✔ Describing
✔ Reproducing
✔ Extending
✔ Creating Patterns, using manipulatives, diagrams, sounds, and actions.
In Language Arts: Students will listen, speak, read, write, view, and represent to explore thoughts, ideas, feelings and experiences.
** Ongoing literacy activities will take place all day and every day through cross curricular Science, Social Studies, Religion, Health themes and literature links.
Home Reading Practice begins Monday September 16th. Please follow the steps below to support your child with early literacy skills and to build a foundation
for reading the words of a story.

In Spanish Language Arts: Listening instructions are in progress, school and class vocabulary, colors, and calendar (days, month, season, and weather) songs and
rhyming.
Religion Education: Our unit is called “I am a Child of God”. We are learning daily and meal prayers, as well as Our Father prayer in Spanish. Also we are learning about
God through Bible stories.
