Thank you to all of you for supporting the home reading and word work program. This month, we will start slowing down the word work program
and changing the quizzes to once every two weeks instead of once a week to allow for more time for your child to practice them at home and in
class. The words are getting more challenging so I believe that having ample time to practice and reinforce them will help with the student’s self
confidence and accuracy. The dates for the quizzes are included in the calendar. If your child has already read a book sent home in the home
reading, this is a good opportunity for them to practice it again and help develop their fluency and intonation when reading. Also, take advantage
of the www.kidsa-z.com website as it is a great literacy resource and there are “good fit” books leveled for your child. Username and password
were sent home in September. This month our themes will be centered around Remembrance Day and preparing for the coming of Jesus in
December.

We are now working in our Daily 5 Literacy model each day, in which students routinely practice their writing, listening to reading, reading to self,
reading to a partner, and word work. We are getting used to using the chromebooks for listening to reading and continue to explore literacy and

through signs, symbols, rituals, words and actions. We will also be starting to practice our Christmas concert songs!
