EXPLANATION (5 minutes): Team Scoot is a variation of the traditional whole-class Scoot game. In Scoot, students move from one desk to another around the room to solve problems on task cards. In Team Scoot, the entire class is involved in the activity at the same time, but students move around their teams instead of moving around the classroom. After every 4 problems, students stop to check and discuss answers with their teammates, and then they hand their task cards off to the next team. Because this activity takes time for the students to discuss the problems and answers, they are unlikely to complete all the cards in the task card deck. Directions: 1. Sit in teams of 3. 2. Each person gets a dry erase board. 3. Each person will solve a different problem on their dry erase board and rotate until you have solved all three. 4. When everyone has finished all three problems, ask students to share with their group to discuss and record on their recording sheet. 5. Say, “Scoot,” and have each group move to another table taking their recording pages with them. 6. Each person solves a new problem on their dry erase board and rotates until you have solved all three. 7. Repeat. 8. Go through the task card numbers and share the answers. Everyone on the team checks the answer and discusses it until all agree. Those who had the problem correct give yourself a check.
