1. The individual and the community

An individual is a single being, separate from a group, class or family. Each individual has its
own needs, goals and wants. On the other hand, community is composed of these individuals that
share common traditions, i.e. religion, norms and values. It is a social unit, wherein individuals
cooperate, participate and respect each other for the betterment of the whole community.

4. How can the family constitute the foundations in the society?

Family is known as the basic unit of the society. Almost all framework values of a society
started at home, i.e., learning how to respect, protect and love. This is where a child learns the
basic values of life which is extended to the society, as the child, the individual becomes a part of
a community. Strengthening these good values to the children creates a more conscious citizen that
will help the society to grow.
