Inculcation, Moral development, Analysis, Values clarification, and Action learning.
Social Values :
Social values are a set of principles that are morally acceptable by society. These principles are created
by the dynamics of the community, institutions in the society, traditions, and cultural beliefs of the
people in the society. The laws are a guide for people in society on how to conduct themselves
appropriately.
Importance :
Social values form an important part of the culture of the society. Values account for the stability of
social order. They provide the general guidelines for social conduct. Values such as fundamental rights,
patriotism, respect for human dignity, rationality, sacrifice, individuality, equality, democracy etc.
We are witnesses of how almost every day the lack of social values is affecting the development
of the students, our children, to succeed in life. Respect, tolerance, equality, and honesty are
some of the social values that build a strong and secure personality of any individual. Therefore,
the absence of these values leads in some case to terrible consequences in the life of any human
being. Violence, crimes, drugs, youth pregnancy are some of these consequences.
Moral Values :
Moral values concern themselves with right and wrong. They also define what is socially acceptable,
good or evil. Moral values are ideas that society considers important. They are at play when a person
interacts with the wider world or has to make a decision that will have a consequence on others.
Importance :
Moral values empower an individual to perform better with human intentions, motives, acts, and
relationships with other individuals. Moral values form the basis of all religious practices. Values such as
perseverance, self-control, respect, honesty, generosity, politeness, kindness, integrity, etc.
It comprises some basic principles such as truthfulness, honesty, charity, hospitality, tolerance, love,
kindness and sympathy. Moral education makes one perfect. Education is not aimed at obtaining only a
degree, it includes necessary value based teachings which result in character building and social
improvement too.
Build trust in the classroom, As a starting point, establish basic rules of respect -- and model them. Listen
to your students. Challenge ideas, not people. Work with your class to develop a language for moral
inquiry.
Individual Life :
Religion helps in creating an ethical framework and also a regulator for values in day to day life. This
particular approach helps in character building of a person. In other words, Religion acts as an agency of
socialization. Thus, religion helps in building values like love, empathy, respect, and harmony.
Social Life :
Religion ideally serves several functions. It gives meaning and purpose to life, reinforces social unity and
stability, serves as an agent of social control, promotes psychological and physical well-being, and may
motivate people to work for positive social change.
