DESCRIPTION
The Victory Firing System W/ Det. Cord was developed to provide a redundant
firing system for detonating perforating guns and other auxiliary explosives.
The firing system is designed to receive multiple firing head configurations
(electrical or mechanical systems) to operate the system. The firing system
functions by utilizing the shockwave of a detonator to set off an explosive train
consisting of Bi-Directional Boosters and Detonating Cord which sets off a
perforating gun

The maxmium temperature can be increased to 400°F (204°C) by subsituting
the 90 durometer Nitrile O-Rings with 90 Durometer Viton O-Rings. Refer
to the Time vs. Temperature chart for explosives to confirm any explosives
requirements.
Item A can be replaced with HNS style detonator (51-6985-3) for higher
temperature rating.

Note: Check all items against the parts list to be sure of having the
correct parts and quantities.
Note: Check for any damage to the parts which would prevent the part
from being assembled correctly, easily and safely.
1.0 Assembly
1.1 Cut a length of 80 gr. Detonating Cord (item C) 6.25” (15.88 cm) long and crimp a Bi-Directional
Booster (item B) on one end. Slide the Retainer (item 6) and Rubber Grommet over the
Detonating Cord. Crimp a second Bi-Directional Booster (item B) onto the Detonating Cord.
1.2 Thread each Detonating Cord Assembly into the Upper Det. Cord Block W/ Roll Pins (item
4) as indicated below. When installing the Det. Cord Assembly leave an 1” gap between the
Rubber Grommet and Bi-Di. Bottom out the Bi-Di in the bore of the Upper Det. Cord Block,
than thread the Retainer to secure the Detonating Cord Assembly.
Note: Use the lip of the Retainer to help thread the two mating pieces
together. Do not use excessive force, as this will damage the Retainer.
Note: There should be a maximum stand off of .25” between the top of
Retainer and Upper Det. Cord Block.
1.3 Insert both of the Bi-Directional Boosters into the Detonating Cord Insert (item 3). Hold the
Det. Cord Insert and Bi-Di’s flush and secure with High Temperature tape. Wrap the tape at
the end of the two Bi-Di shells. The tape will help with alignment when installing the Upper
Det. Cord Block (item 5).
1.4 Insert the Upper Det. Cord Block Assembly into tapered bore of the Lower Det. Cord Block
(item 5). The Det. Cord Insert will stick out the top bore of the Upper Det. Cord Block.
1.5 Secure the Lower and Upper Det. Cord Blocks together by threading the two set screws (item
8) into the Upper Det. Cord Block. Make sure to thread the set screws evenly to allow the
Lower and Upper Det. Cord Blocks to align concentric.
1.6 Insert the Snap Ring (item 10) into the slot located at the top of the Lower Det. Cord Block.
Push the Det. Cord Insert into the bore of the Lower Det. Cord Block to allow the snap ring to
release into the groove.
1.7 Insert Det. Cord Block Internal Assembly into the bore of Detonator Body (item 1). Make sure
to align the roll pins into the receiving holes as indicated below.
1.8 Insert Snap Ring (item 11) into slot on Detonator Body Extension (item 2). Make sure the
Snap Ring fully seats into the groove. Install O-Rings (item 9) onto the pin of the Detonator
Body Extensions.
1.9 Thread Detonator Body Extension with Snap Ring into the lower section of the Detonator
Body with the explosive assembly. Install O-Rings (item 9) onto the pin of the Detonator Body.
The Victory Firing System is now ready to mated with the desired firing heads and perforating
guns.
1.10 Insert a Percussion Detonator (item A) into each bore of the Detonator Body. Thread the
desired firing head to retain the detonator into the Detonator Body.
1.11 Thread the assembled Victory System onto the top of the desired perforating gun. Depending
on the Firing Head used in conjuction with the Victory Firing System refer to manuals for
recommended running procedures.
