Dear Doctor,

Warm greetings!

The Department of Health, through the support from the World Health Organization (WHO) has
established a National Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) Program in order to:

• To institutionalize leadership and mechanisms for clinical governance in the area of Antimicrobial
Resistance (AMR);
• To establish positive behavioral changes in terms of antimicrobial prescribing, dispensing and use
as shown by prescription monitoring and;
• To prevent further spread of multi-drug resistant pathogens in the hospital and its surrounding
community.

In relation to the regional and country-wide initiative to develop and institutionalize the AMS program in
the Philippines, the DOH-Pharmaceutical Division in partnership with JBLMRH shall conduct an
Antimicrobial Stewardship Training Program for Level II & III Hospitals on July 9-12, 2019 (exclusive of
travel time) at Red Manor, City of San Fernando, Pampanga. The following personnel are invited to
attend:

▪ Chairperson of either Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee or Infection Control Committee


▪ Chief of Microbiology Laboratory or Medical Technologist
▪ Infection Control Committee Nurse
▪ Chief Pharmacist
▪ Clinical Pharmacist (or with equivalent training and experience)

Please note that the sending agency should not send more than five (5) participants for the training. If
the personnel concern is not available for the training, we encourage sending his representative to attend.
All participants are requested to bring their own laptops for the workshop.

on or before June 21, 2019.

We will shoulder the cost of food during the entire program. However, the cost of hotel accommodation,
transportation expenses plus food outside of the program hours for private hospitals shall be charged to
their respective sending institution.

(0922-857-8639). Attached herewith is a copy of the program for your reference.
