Subject: Highlighting How Climate Change Affects Our Environment and Suggestions

Dear Editor,
My name is Kayanna Lawrence and I am a student of Brookdale Community
College in New Jersey. I am writing this letter to highlight the issues of climate change in the
environment. Climate change in the world can be caused by various activities. When climate
change occurs; temperatures can increase a dramatically. When temperature rises, many
different changes can occur on Earth. For example, it can result in more floods, droughts, or
intense rain, as well as more frequent and severe heat waves. It has come to my attention lately
that the town of New Jersey has experienced quite a number of Climate Changes these past
few months in the community, especially with the addition of two new factories. Highway
vehicles release about 1.6 billion tons of greenhouse gases (GHG s) into the atmosphere each
year, mostly in the form of carbon dioxide (CO2) which contributes to global climate change.
I have two (2) suggestions to help climate change in our community so we can
make it a safer place for our future generations to come. Firstly, instead of having all the cars
backed up on the high way causing traffic and making noise, while having persons spend their
money wasting their gas, the government could provide several buses in different areas of New
Jersey transporting people to their destinations on specific weekdays when the traffic is the
lightest, which I would recommend on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This would limit the number of
cars on the road and limit the amount of carbon foot print.
Lastly, reforestation. Planting more trees would help replenish the amount of
oxygen needed for human survival. A park should be created by the citizens of New Jersey
where a plant is being planted every Saturday. Not only would the park be fun for kids but it
could also give them a new hobby, however animals are not allowed, only trained dogs. This
would be a good help to the citizens of New Jersey and would have a positive impact on the
environment.

Therefore, I request you to highlight this issue in the newspaper and generate public
interest. We have to work together as one to help our environment to strive.
