One of the best ways to express people’s solidarity and morality in the
modern life is volunteer work.
WHAT IS VOLUNTEER WORK? Volunteer work is an action from a person or a corporate willing to do in order to help other people who are in unfortunate situations based on love and humanity. In Vietnam, volunteer work has existed since the beginning of the country, because we Vietnamese have a tradition of “the leaves protect tattered ones”. Or “tương thân tương ái” in vietnamese. HOW MANY KINDS OF VOLUNTEER WORKS ARE THERE? Volunteer work includes donating, Sanitation; Healthcare, universal education, cultural development; Care for families of war invalids, fallen heroes, policy families, children and teenagers; Hunger elimination, poverty reduction, universalization of Informatics and Internet, Strengthening, and protecting the environment. WHY DO PEOPLE DO VOLUNTEER WORK? Volunteer work, as some might say, is a win-win situation People do volunteer work because it is important for them to help a cause, lend a helping hand or support an organization in need. There is so much to get out of it. For one, it never feels bad to volunteer. Volunteering, doing something selfless for someone else, evokes this feeling of well-being and satisfaction. While the main motivation usually isn’t to feel good, it certainly has that effect. It’s very refreshing to volunteer, to maybe spend time talking to elderly people at a nursing or retirement home. You make them feel better, and give them affection and attention – since, after all, one’s time is the most important thing one can give another – and it makes that person volunteering to feel better as well. Volunteering benefits a person for another very important reason, too: it helps the volunteer forget about their own problems for a while because they have to concentrate on somebody else’s problems. It’s very refreshing, the act of volunteering. THE BENEFITS OF VOLUNTEERING. Firstly, Volunteering is a great opportunity for people to find their own strength and develop new skills. Planning for a donation campaign helps them develop the ability to manage their finances. Training and guiding other volunteers help them develop pedagogical skills. Secondly, Volunteer work makes positive impact on the lives of the less fortunate ones and connects people from different backgrounds closer together. Last but not least, voluteering reflexes the picture of them and is a real example of their enthusiasm, persistence and interests. VOLUNTEER WORK IN THE LOCAL AREA.
