A medical technologist perform and analyze the result of scientific test on blood and

other body fluids using sophisticated procedures and equipment. They perform laboratory
investigations based on the specimen taken from the human body such as urine, blood,
stool and other body fluids through the use of medical equipment such as analyzers,
microscope and other precision equipment. These persons mostly work in hospitals and
laboratories. Their duties include collecting, testing and recording samples of blood and
other body fluids. As they collect blood, urine and tissue samples from the patients, they
examine those collected samples and identify if there are any abnormalities in the cell by
doing some tests like getting the complete blood cell count by putting the blood sample in
a machine then the machine do the job, if the number of blood cells exceed or lack in the
normal number of cell, the medical technologist do a manual test in the blood samples.
They also check for parasites in the fecal of their patient who wants to take tests for
fecalysis. They were also the one who prepare the detailed reports about the test result
and findings, collaborate with the pathologist and other medical specialist to determine
correct diagnosis if there are abnormalities in the cell that are discovered for example,
when a patient takes a drug test, the medical technologist collaborate with the pathologist
to analyze the result.

There are a lot of subjects in taking this course. Like Community and Public Health
where it is all about the offer of support for public health programs. Human Histology
which studies the cells, tissues and organs as seen through the microscope, it is a guide to
biological structure that can be observed through the light microscope, and includes
cellular detail down to the molecular level that can be observed using an electron
microscope. Molecular Biology and Diagnostics is the study of techniques used to
analyze biological markers in the genome and proteome. Med Tech Laws and Bioethics
tells a quite introduction to medical technology with science, technology and society, it
deals with various laws that is related to Medical Laboratory Science Profession and
explain the ethical principles relative to health. Cytogenetic is the study of inheritance in
relation to the structure and function of chromosomes. Clinical Chemistry is the area of
chemistry that is generally concerned with analysis of body fluids for diagnostic and
therapeutic purposes. Clinical Parasitology is a study of parasites that may have been in a
human stool. Hematology is the study of blood. Laboratory Management tell about how a
medical technologist will manage the laboratory. Mycology and Virology is the study of
fungi which is a eukaryotic organism that consume dead plants and animals for food.
Analysis of urine and body Fluids is the study of analyzing the urine in a human body
and other body fluids. These are some of the major subjects when taking this course. This
course is a four-year degree program that provides students with the necessary skills and
training in laboratory tests. These tests are used in detecting, diagnosing, preventing and
treating various diseases.
