A. Activity
I. Singing
Sing some songs of Cordillera Highlands
Identify the functions of music demonstrated by each songs
II. Charades
Play the game charades involving musical symbols. Let the students
guess the name of the musical symbols
III. Brainstorm
Brainstorm on how music writing or notation began. Then discuss how the
staff was developed and created
B. Analysis
I. Enumerate the different symbols in music like the staff, treble clef, bass
clef, notes and rests
II. Discuss the value of each note and rest. Emphasize the use of time signature
in determining the value of the notes and the rests. Explain the relationship
of the notes with one another
III. Ask the students to illustrate the clefs (treble and bass) on a staff. Explain
their importance
C. Abstraction
Ask the students to identify the notes on the lines and spaces of the staff using
pitch names and sofa syllables
