The Shaping of an Individual
There are two factors affecting growth and development:
 Heredity = is the passing of traits of parents to their offsprings.
2 structures in the cell
1. Chromosomes = are thread like structures found within the nucleus of a cell that
carry the codes for inherited traits
2. Genes = are the basic units of heredity
3 Physical Traits that are inherited
1. Dominant 2. Recessive 3. Sex Related Traits
 Environment = is the sum total of a person’s surroundings
3 classification of environment
1. Physical environment = refers to forces such as climate, water,air food chemicals
heat and light
2. Biological environment = composed of plants, animals and humans
3. Socio economic environment = deals with culture, rights attitudes, economic
place, and social and political commitment

Write an essay about the different traits that they inherited on their
parents and ancestors
