Tourism in Transcarpathia!!!

For the tourists Transcarpathia is an exciting book, the pages of


which are full of charming legends, heroic stories and sunny
reality. Transcarpathia is rich in its history. 12 medieval castles
among which Uzhhorod, Mukachevo, Nevytsky still preserved in
Transcarpathia others in ruins and debris. There are 1817
monuments of history in the region. There are 10 architectural
values of Transcarpathia, 10 cultural values of Transcarpathia and
10 natural values of Transcarpathia.

Uzhhorod
The Uzhhorod Castle is a large fortress located on the Zamkova
Mountain. The age of the fortress is almost thousands years old.
It was built on the brink of the X-XI centuries. He was presented
to Drugeths, the favorites of the Hungarian King Carl Robert.
The form of the castle - the wrong quadrangle. Up to our time still
preserved ditches, diamond-shaped bastions up to 15 m high,
palace-citadel in the center and walls with loopholes in width 2,5-
3 m. Inside the castle is impressive with paintings, stucco and
other, restored according to each separate era, elements of decor.
And in the yard the visitor can inspect the well at a depth of 36m,
from which the inhabitants of their time dug water during the
siege. The White Virgo walks through the Uzhhorod castle
transitions - the girl's ghost appears at midnight to disappear as
soon as dawn begins. The appearance of the White Virgin is
explained differently. Some say that the spirit of the unfortunate
daughter of Count Drugeth’s. She accidentally met a neighboring
voivod, who had long dreamed of capturing the castle. They loved
each other - and the young lady told her lover the kind of castle's
secrets that only Drugeths knew. When the father learnt of
treason, he killed the voivod, and bricked up his daughter alive
in one of the castle walls. At night the girl's spirit as if looking for
her lover. According to another version the White Virgo - an
aristocrat who fell in love with one of the rebels . at the dark
night, the lovers had to meet near the castle, under the oak, but
the servants spied on the girl. The servants of her father killed the
young man just before the eyes of the nobleman, and the girl was
bricked up alive in the castle .

The old village or an open-air

When in Uzhhorod, you should definitely learn the peculiarities
of folk architecture and life in Western Ukraine. In the open-air
Museum of Folk Architecture and Life, you'll find yourself in an
authentic village with stylized samples of wooden churches and
dwellings. You will also be able to enter the houses and see the
decor, as well as a collection of household items, which number
14,000.

Botanical Garden
The botanical garden was created in 1946, it occupies 4.5 hectares
of area. The park is stretched as if on three levels: one third of it
is located on the first and second terraces above the river, and
two-thirds descend to the part of the valley. Here are the following
areas of exotic plants: American, Caucasian, Central Asian,
Chinese, Far Eastern. In the garden, about 3800 species of plants
are collected. Transcarpathia flora is represented by 400 species
of plants, among them: Hungarian lilac, Carpathian Flax. In the
arboretum, there are about 800 species of trees and shrubs. 130
species of coniferous species grow: yew , cypress marsh and
others. Alpine hill represents a separate flora of mountains. Here,
150 species of plants grow, including beautiful edelweiss.
Decorative floriculture is represented by 1200 species of plants,
among which: 120 species of roses, 50 species of gladiolus, 25
species of chrysanthemums, 20 species of lilies. In the greenhouse
of Uzhgorod botanical garden grow tropical and subtropical
plants: banana, mimosa, laurel, eucalyptus, papaya, 10 kinds of
palm trees, 250 species of cacti.

Linden Alley
Among the monuments of Uzhhorod of landscape architecture,
Linden Alley is an impressive piece. It stretches for 1.2 miles (2
km) on two embankments of Uzhhorod: Independence and
Studentska. Due to the fact that different linden tree varieties
grow here, the alley blooms all spring and summer long.

Mukachevo
Palanka from Italian means "palisade" - fortified with oak decks
fence. Once upon a time the castle hill was surrounded by such
an oak palisade. At this fence then lived different masters:
carpenters, blacksmiths, who worked in the fortress. Since then
the castle has received such a name. The Palanok castle area
occupies almost 14 thousand square meters. The fortress has three
terraces with three levels, which characterize a significant age of
the building: Upper, Middle and Lower castles. The first of these
is the oldest building. A younger terrace is built 6 meters below.
And the Lower Castle was erected already in the 18th century and
10 meters below the Middle. The latter now functions as a
museum. The castle has many secret transitions and basements,
where peasants hid in the years of siege. The Well in the Palanque
Castle. There is a legend that once Prince Fedir Koryatovich
ordered to dig a lock in the castle. But the water in the well, which
at that time was already at a depth of 80 meters, did not appear.
And once to the prince there was a devil who promised water in
exchange for a sack of gold. The prince deceived the unclean and
gave him not a bag, but a bag of two gold coins, after which an
angry devil jumped into the well, and sometimes his frenetic twig
came from there. This well depth of 85 meters and today is one
of the highlights of the castle.

Nevytsky castle
In the 60s of the last century, a small restoration took place in the
castle, but since then the castle gradually collapsed. From day to
day may fall the wooden roof of the main tower - a symbol of the
Transcarpathian region. Fortress stands on a 125-meter-high
mountain of volcanic origin. One legend tells of the times of the
Tartar attacks on the settlement. When it was in the castle, the
peasants had to hide the most valuable - the young girls, the bride.
Hence, accordingly, the name of the Nevytska fortress comes
from.

Castle-palace of the earls


Shenborn
The castle was built in 1890-1895. This castle-palace is unique in
its kind. There are exactly 365 windows, 52 rooms, 12 entrance
doors. A pond was set up opposite the castle. Near the castle is a
beautiful park with unique plants and cages with animals.

Shenborn Park
Access to the park is free, it is located on the territory of the large
tourist complex "Vojvodino", so the visit can be combined with
various types of recreation in the complex. The park is small but
cozy and well maintained. Every detail in the park symbolizes
something. For example, the entrance gate is the border between
Austria-Hungary and modern Ukraine. On the trail to the lake,
there are 7 lanterns that symbolize 7 days of the week and 12
bridges - signs of the zodiac. On the benches in the park you can
see the emblems of the states, which at different times included
Transcarpathia. The water mill is not just a design element, but a
real mill, built according to the drawings of the Austro-Hungarian
times.

Lake Synevyr in the Carpathian


Mountains
Synevyr is the largest lake in the Ukrainian Carpathians, located
at an altitude of 1 km. In the middle of the lake on the peninsula
there is a wooden sculpture "Synya and Vyr", its height is 13
meters. The temperature of water is 11 degrees, even in the
summer. The legend is that hundreds of years ago, the Carpathian
Mountains were owned by a single graph, whose daughter was a
young and beautiful daughter Synya, she was called so through
blue eyes that had a bright flash. Once the girl walked down the
slopes of the mountains and gathered the flowers, she suddenly
met her love - a young boy named Vyr. An angry count ordered
to execute the boy for the love of his only daughter. Since then,
Synya has mourned the beloved Vyr, shedding tears - so
crystalline clear blue Lake Synevyr was formed.

Shipit Waterfall
The waters of waterfall Shipit originate in the mountains - in
Borzhava valleys. The total height of the waterfall is 14 m. The
legend about the waterfall - about the rich girl of Mary, who loved
the poor Ivana. Mary's mother cursed a couple of lovers. A
powerful downpour with thunder and lightning caused stormy
mountain floods that took Ivana and Mary and carried into the
abyss.The mother was sorry about the deeds and every day came
to the stream to see the children, but in response to the apology
she only newlyweds' whisper.

Valley of daffodils
The valley of picturesque daffodils since 1992. as part of the
Carpathian Biosphere Reserve, and even part of the UNESCO
World Network of Reserves. The uniqueness of the original
Narcissa Valley - elevation 180-200 m above sea level. Valley of
narcissi is 4 km from Khust, the area is 256.5 hectares, for
narcissus is 80 hectares. In any case, the time of flowering of the
valley of daffodils varies within 5-10 days, the season usually
begins in early May and lasts about two weeks.

Sanatorium "Carpathians"
Sanatorium "Carpathians" is one of the largest recreation
complexes in Transcarpathia, the total area of which exceeds 40
hectares of mountainous terrain, mainly covered with forest
massifs. The territory is perhaps the best park-arboretum in
Transcarpathia, in which, besides the habitual for this climatic
zone, there are still more than 40 species of rare plants.

Ostrich farm
The first few ostriches arrived from a neighboring country -
Slovakia, and did not regret, the climate for ostriches, proved to
be suitable, and it is not so difficult to feed them - the ostrich is
an omnivorous animal. The number is about 50 birds, and this
does not include youngsters. The price for young ostriches from
$ 180 to $ 500 depending on their age (the ostrich is considered
young, from birth and somewhere in seven months). The price for
adult ostriches starts from $ 800 and up to $ 1500.
