Resources Needed LM Science 10, protractor, colored chalk, meterstick

PROCEDURE:
Element of
Suggested Activity
the Plan
Awareness Recall previous lesson on curved mirrors.
Ask the students, have you tried looking yourselves using a spoon? What have you observe?
Do the two sides of the spoon have the same reflection of you? Do you know what helps in
locating and describing images formed by curved mirrors? Relate to the new lesson.
Activity 1. Conduct a lecture demonstration on the four principal rays and the different steps of ray
diagramming.
2. Present at least the first principal ray, students will do the remaining three principal rays.
Analysis 1. What are the four principal rays on curved mirrors?
2. What do the letters of the principal rays represent?

Abstraction The four principal rays in curved mirrors are: P-F Ray; F-P Ray; C-C Ray; and V ray.
Steps in Ray diagramming:
1. From the object, draw the four principal rays.
2. The intersection of the four rays is the image point.
3. For convex mirror, light rays diverge after reflection and converge from a point that seems
behind the mirror (virtual focus).
Application 1. What is the significant of these four principal rays and the rules or steps in ray
diagramming?

Assessment 1. Draw the four principal rays used in ray diagramming for both concave and convex
mirror.
2. Illustrate the steps in ray diagramming.

Assignment Bring the following materials for the activity next day.
1. protractor
2. ruler
3. graphing papers
4. different colors of pen
