LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 10

Section & Time:

Apply ray diagramming techniques in describing the characteristics and Level 10

Learning positions of images formed by lenses. S10FE-IIg-51
Competency Quarter 2

Knowledge: Describe the nature of image formed by concave and convex Week 9
Learning lenses. No.
Objectives Skills: Evaluate the image formed in relation to the location of the object.
Day 3
Attitudes: Share insights on the use of lenses and other optical instruments
in our daily life.
Topic Images Formed by Concave and Convex Mirrors Duration
1 hour
Resources Needed LM Science 10, protractor, different colors of pens, ruler

PROCEDURE:
Element of
Suggested Activity
the Plan
Awareness Conduct an overview on the three useful rays in lenses.

Activity Individual activity: Are you L-O-S-T after Refraction? (LM science 10 page 200-203)
This activity will construct ray diagrams to determine the location, orientation, size, type and
will also describe the images formed in a curved mirror.
Analysis 1. How does the image change in its size and location, as the object comes nearer the
convex lens? Concave lens?
2. Why is it impossible for a concave lens to form a real image?
Abstraction  The location and nature of an image formed by lenses depends on the location of the
object and on the type of lens.
 Convex lenses produce real images when the object is located at a distance greater
than the focal length of the lens otherwise the image formed is virtual.

Application Identify the location of object for which the following optical instruments are used to
Match column A with column B.
Column A Column B
photocopy “Xerox” Machine At Infinity
Camera Beyond 2F’
Telescope At 2F’
Projector Between 2F’ and F
Magnifying Glass Between F’ and V
Assessment Direction: Answer the following questions.
1. How would you compare the distance and description of the images formed by lenses at a
given location to that of a curve mirror?

Assignment Research about these:
