HAZARDS AROUND ME
By: Denisse Nicole Apilado & Sean Kyle Pilneda
A.) Hazard # 1

The stairs in Dominican College, specifically the stairs located at the

Grade 8 Hall down to the Canteen area, is considered as one of the
Hazards in the school because the types of stairs that we have are very
steep and is prone to damage. Ideally, stairs should not be steep,
winding, curved, nor have open risers.
B.) Hazard # 2

This is an image of the gate outside senior high school classrooms.

We’ve noticed that the gate is not properly attached to the walls
anymore and is not stable at all. Shown above, the walls have major
cracks that caused the gate to be slightly bent. We consider this as a
Hazard because it is completely dangerous to students who are passing
through the corridors. Chances are, if people are not aware that this
gate is broken, they will swing it and it can fall on their feet in no time.
SUGGESTIONS ON HOW HAZARDS CAN BE MANAGED:

A.) Hazard # 1

1.) Some stairs in our school are very steep, so everyone should
be conscious and aware of their actions while passing through
these stairs to avoid possible accidents.
2.) Stairways in our school should provide a hand rail for people
to hold on. This can serve as guidance.
3.) Stairs should be in safe condition and be of suitable design
and dimensions for their use.
4.) Wherever possible, wearing of sensible footwear should be
promoted.

B.) Hazard # 2

1.) Fix/Repair broken structures immediately to avoid accidents

that may happen to students
2.) Report to the nearest Kuya or Manong about the damage
seen.
3.) Prepare a plan on how people will be rescued from fallen
objects.
