Dear Hiring Manager,

My name is Luis Perez and I am applying for a job at Teach for America. I majored in Bilingual Elementary
Education and I know this job is perfect for me. I am a strong leader since I want people to succeed in the dreams
that they want. I have worked with students from K-8 and I know that I am perfect for this position in serving for
the community.

As an educator, I am a leader. I have been working for kids ranging from Kindergarten to 8 th grade. I started
working with kids since high school but was more passionate as a college freshman. I worked with America Reads,
which helps kids in low income communities from K-8th, and it changed what I wanted to do in the future. I started
college in Secondary Education in Mathematics and during my second semester I did America Reads and an
internship as a Pre-Calculus tutor for college students. I would rather work for K-8 than high school or college
students since the kids are more fun to be with and love to learn. I like to engage students in activities and I want
them to have bright minds in order for them to change the community.

I really like helping the community. I came from a low-income family and I had a lot of resources in my school
years which helped me in the person that I am today. I want to give that back which also made me decide in
becoming an educator. I always want to help out especially to children. It is important to me that everyone has
equity rather than equality because it is a big part for communities with low resources. I want to give resources by
helping them go through high school, helping them go to their dream college, and get the job that they always
wanted to be in. I really like people to be successful and it start with the kids which is really important for me.
