YOUR OWN MIND WILL BE THE KILLER

Do you even just for once, questioned your worth in life? Sometimes we create
things in mind that will break us, most of the times people doesn’t really intend to destroy
your life but the things you think destroys it. Our own imagination and expectations are
the reasons why we, most of the times, get hurt. We got to exceed the reality we are living
in and that’s something that makes our life miserable. But the thing is when you got to
think it deeply that’s beyond what we have in life.

Everyone has bad days, and everyone feels extremely sad or angry sometimes in his
or her life. Those emotions are normal human emotions. We all have those feelings from
time to time, but they usually go away within a few days. There are cases of sadness
wherein it lasted for months and that’s something more. A period of overwhelming
sadness like you’re used to be alone in one place and darkness just consumed you. You
are blinded by the feeling of grief. It involves a loss of interest in things that used to bring
pleasure. Those feelings are usually accompanied by other emotional and physical
symptoms. When you experienced such feelings maybe you’re suffering from the most
common form of mental illness, and that is Depression.

According to the American Psychiatric Association, Depression is a common and

serious medical illness that negatively affects how someone feels, the ways someone
think and how someone act. It causes feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in
activities once enjoyed. The symptoms of depression can include; depressed mood,
unintentional weight loss, insomnia or hypersomnia, fatigue or loss of energy, feelings of
worthlessness or guilt, impaired ability to think, concentrate or make decisions and
recurrent thought of death or suicide. The causes of depression are not fully understood
and may not be down to a single source, it is most likely be due to a complex
combination of the following; low self-esteem, anxiety disorder, borderline personality
disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), physical or sexual abuse, chronic
diseases like diabetes, multiple sclerosis, or cancer, alcohol or drug abuse, certain
prescription medications, family history of depression and even a product of bullying.
The hardest part of having a depression is that it can lead to suicide. There is scientific
based treatment for depression and that include; Support ranging from family members,
friends and other people, psychotherapy such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and
drug treatment, specifically antidepressants.

The World Health Organization states that 350 million people are affected by
depression, globally. It is something that should be addressed before it gets half of the
population. For me depression will always be there, and no one can help you but yourself.
Your own mind controls you, you think and think and think negatively that’s why most of
the time you feel like you’re all alone by yourself but mind you. You are not alone, when
everyone leaves you, you always have that one person who will never let you go down
beyond what you deserve no matter how bad or good you are as a person and that is God.
He will never betray you, you must have a strong faith on Him. Your mind controls what
you do so if you think positively then everything will change. You don’t need someone to
be happy, happiness will always be within yourself and no one can take it away. Your
mind will be the killer, the killer of the joy, contentment and everything else that makes
you happy and eventually it leads to losing self-worthiness. Every situation we encounter
in life, either a good or bad, has a brighter side we must always look for it.

Life will never let you be happy all the time, it brings chaos that will put you down,
but you can kill it by staying calm and think it as something you need to overcome in
order to be better. For me depression is a serious case for someone and we need to respect
what others feel in order to help them overcome it. We need to unite for a good cause and
that’s something we always look forward for. We all can create or destroys one’s life so
let us start creating a brighter life for the next generation. For all those people who suffers
from depression, always know that there will always be someone out there for you, He
will never give up on you so please don’t give up your life. Maybe your own mind will be
the killer, but that killer can change if you have that faith and dedication. So just continue
doing what you’re best at maybe it will not help you gain money, but it will give you
something more than what material things can give, and it is true happiness, something
no one can replace, it is contentment and something stronger than anything else; a faith in
our almighty God. As the saying goes, “God gives hardest battles to His strongest
soldiers.” and mind you, YOU ARE ONE OF THE STRONGEST SOLDIERS OF GOD
and you are deserving of all the love that He can give. Your mind will be the killer and
faith in God will be your savior.
