The FCC has created a new tool to help bridge the digital divide, a new interactive

broadband map, which will help the public and policy-makers understand where there are gaps in
delivering fixed broadband, the map will allow people to learn more about broadband in their
areas, and across the country. This new map is built on the latest data for fixed-broadband
deployment, collected every six months by the FCC from providers. Consumers can enter an
address, either at the home page, or on the Location Summary tab, and have the map show them
the area and display a list of providers reporting service. Https://broadbandmap.fcc.gov/
The cable industry wants to help close this digital divide by promoting the benefits of
broadband, encouraging families to connect, and by offering programs that help families
overcome barriers they may face. They’re providing discounted Internet services, hardware,
digital literacy training, and technology centers across the country to increase accessibility. For
example, Comcast is offering low-cast broadband services, discounted computers, and digital
literacy training. https://www.internetessentials.com/
