    NATURAL DYES RECIPES

    Marigold dyeing -

    Boiling process - 2 kg of marigold petals with 4 liters of water. Boil till petals settle down in the water(at least
    half an hour), Boil till it reduces to 3 litres. drain it.

    Modem : Alum(transparent crystals) - 3 spoons of alum in half liter of water, heat and
    dissolve. mix into 1 liter of marigold.
    Colour - Marigold yellow

    Modem : Copper sulphate(blue crystals) - 3 spoons of CuSO4 in half liter of water, heat
    and dissolve. mix into 1 liter of marigold.
    Colour - Beige brown

    Modem : Ferrous sulphate(red crystals) - 3 spoons of FeSO4 in half liter of water, heat
    and dissolve. mix into 1 liter of marigold.
    Colour- Dirty yellow

    Onion dyeing-

    Boiling process - 2 kg of onion petals with 4 liters of water. Boil till petals settle down in the water and mash
    up (at least half an hour),Boil till it reduces to 3 litres. drain it.

    Modem : Alum(transparent crystals) - 3 spoons of alum in half liter of water, heat and
    dissolve. mix into 1 liter of onion water.
    Colour - olive green

    Modem : Copper sulphate(blue crystals) - 3 spoons of CuSO4 in half liter of water, heat
    and dissolve. mix into 1 liter of marigold.
    Colour - Beige brown

    Modem : Ferrous sulphate(red crystals) - 3 spoons of FeSO4 in half liter of water, heat
    and dissolve. mix into 1 liter of marigold.
    Colour - Mehendi green

    Manjeeshtha Dyeing-

    Boiling process - 500 gms of manjeeshtha powder with 4 liters of water. Boil for half an hour. , drain it. Boil
    till it reduces to 3 litres.

    Modem : Alum(transparent crystals) - 3 spoons of alum in half liter of water, heat and
    dissolve. mix into 1 liter of manjeestha water.
    Colour - Onion pink

    Modem : Copper sulphate(blue crystals) - 3 spoons of CuSO4 in half liter of water, heat
    and dissolve. mix into 1 liter of manjeeshtha.
    Colour - Dark dull beetroot pink

    Turmeric + Harda Dyeing-

    Mix - 350 gms of harda with 150 gms of turmeric

    Boiling process - boil the mixed powder with 4 liters of water. Boil for half an hour. , drain it. Boil till it
    reduces to 3 litres.

    Modem : Alum(transparent crystals) - 3 spoons of alum in half liter of water, heat and
    dissolve. mix into .5 liter of the dye water.
    Colour - Dark Olive Green

    Modem : Copper sulphate + Ferrous sulphate - 3 spoons of CuSO4 with 3 spoons of


    FeSO4 in half liter of water, heat and dissolve. mix into 1.5 liter of the dye water.
    Colour - Dark Brown.
