REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

The review of literature will cover topics related to the study .It includes studies which

deal with the Butterfly pea: Its Characterization and Preparation of Bugo Senior High

School Student.

According to (Dr. Neeraj, 2017), since long time immemorial nature has been a

mere source of medical plants. These medical plants are gift of god, to curve infinite

number of diseases in human beings and other living organism. They have been the

major source of drugs in all system of medicine and other ancient system in the world.

Such exhaustible source of active ingredients invaluable in the management of many

intractable diseases which is harbored by plant kingdom. In the various system of

medicine infirmities in all ancient scriptures of Ayurveda , Aparajita is mentioned as one

of the important herb. This plant found throughout the tropical regions of country being

cultivated in gardens everywhere and this plant has been scientifically studied for

various pharmacological activities like antihistaminic, anthelmentic, hypoglycemic,

antidepressant, and sedative.

According to (Gomez, 2003), Butterfly Pea (clitoria ternate) it’s a multipurpose

forage legume. It provides bioactive compounds for medicinal use & it also an

ornamental plant cover crop. Its originated in tropical Asia has been widely distributed to

many tropical & subtropical countries where it has become naturalize. Leaves are also

used to dye food or are eaten as pot herbs.

According to (Kamkaen and Wilkinson, 2009). Butterfly Pea also known as a

medical plant, butterfly pea's (roots, seed and leaves) are used medically the properties

of this plant have been the subject of several studies with much of this research. The

research found that extract of the aerial parts of the plant had a number of actions on

the central nervous system of mice including antidepressants and anxiolytic affects. It

has thin stem and large leaves, nil bout and non toxic which make it ideal for forage and

has making its vigorous growth.

(Shen, 2016), stated the effect of Hydrophilic extract of the butterfly pea seeds

(HBS) or on decreased cancer cell viability was much higher than lipophilic extract of

the butterfly pea seeds (LBS) or lipophilic extract of the butterfly higher effect (LBP),

while HBS showed significantly higher effect than HBP. The results indicated that

butterfly pea seed and petal extracts could have the potential in functional food

development. It is the result that the effect of NBS or HBP and LBS or LBP on

decreased hep-2 human carcinoma cell viability was evaluated.

According to (Ali -Esmail, 2016) the large number of patient in the world is

creasing using medical plant and herb for health purpose. The plant showed much

pharmacological effect including antioxidant, anti cancer, anti diabetic and many other.

This planted as perennial climbing or trailing herb, growing from a woody root stock.

This flower called “Clitoria Ternatea”, has traditional uses. Root was used for treatment

of ascetics, enlargement of the abdominal xiscera, sore throat and skin disease. The

root of the flower was used as administered with honey and ghee as a general tonic to

children to improve their mental faculties. The seeds and leaves were commonly used

as a brain tonic and promote memory and intelligence. The juice and flower were used

as an antidote called clitoria ternatea was tested by professional so it can prove that it

can be treatment to choose who bad disease that can head this herbal flower.

(Nyi Mekar Saptarin, 2015), Butterfly Pea (Clitoria Ternatea) are used as folk

medicines. The roots and seeds used as thenerves tonic and laxative. The leaves and

roots are used in the treatment of urinogenital disorders, anthelmintic and antidote to

animal stings. Flowers of butterfly pea contain anthocyanins. Anthocyanins are plant

pigment, which responsible for red violet-blue color in plant flowers. There six major

anthocyanins ternatins (A1, A2, B1, B2, D1 and D2) which were characterized as

malonylated delphinidin 3,3’,5’-triglucosides having 3’,5’-side chains with alternating D-

glucose and p-coumaric acid.

Acording to (Saptarini, N. M., Suryasaputra, D., and Nurmalia, H.,2015). Clitoria

Ternatea, or butterfly pea, is an easily accessible Asian flower that can function as a

low-cost pH indicator. The chemical processes that underlie the used of the butterfly

pea as an indicator are well established. The molecule that causes the color change in

the butterfly pea flower indicatoris anthocyanin, which have in equilibrium with other

anthocyanin molecules that have interacted with the acid/base solution. These flavylium

cations absorb different wavelengths of light depending on the pH level the anthocyanin

molecule was exposed to and hence a color gradient is produced.

According to (Joson and Ramirez,1991), Butterfly Pea is a member of the

Leguminosae (Fabaceae) family, Phaseoleae tribe, and Clitoriinae subtribe, found in

many countries worldwide (NPGS 2008). Butterfly pea has a diploid chromosome

number of 2n = 16.

According to (Muhammad, 2018), Clitoria Ternatea (CT) or commonly known as

telang tree originates from the fabaceae family. The flower of this tree vivid, deep-blue

and white colouration and it usually used as a natural colourant in food preparation.

Especially in the local culinary scene such as for the preparation of nasi kerabu and

kuih tekan, discover this plant could-act as a food source for the live stock due to the

taste and nutritious valve it. Along with that, parts of the plant such as its

THEORITICAL FRAMEWORK

This study (Stapp, 2018), represent the life cycle of the butterfly pea through

writing, drawing, dance, and math. The next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)

(NGSS lead states 2013) emphasize college and career readiness as well as critical

thinking and problem-solving skills. Students must develop a deep understanding if

science concepts and engage in scientific experiment.

In this theories Pea belongs to the leguminosae plant family, the third largest

flowering plant family with 800 genera and over 18,000 species. Tribe fabecae is

considered one of the youngest groups in the legumes and beyesian molecular clock

and ancestral range analysis suggest a crown age of 23.

According to DTIC Science & Technology in 2017, alpha impact area on Avon

Park Air Force Range ,showing the locations of clitoria fragrans (pigeon wing) and herb

belonging to the pea family. One of about 35 species in the clitoria genus (USDA 2007),

fragrans is limited mainly to the rapidly chasmogamous flowers have a typical

zygomorphic pea family arrangement, with a large 3.5 to cm-long wing petal and small

white keel petal forming a boat.

According to (Ichirou , 2012). The casparian strip is commonly observed in the

endodermis of roots of vascular plants and, in some cases, also in the stem. Pea stems

develop the casparian strip, and its development has been reported to be regulated by

blue light. In addition, for the purpose of photobiological studies of the development of

caparian stips. In this article, the researchers have briefly summarized the effects of

environmental factors on the development of casparian strip, the advantage if using pea

stems for physiological studies of the development of it and the cellular events also

indicated to be involved in the development, focusing on the studies using pea stems as

well as other recent studies.
