Master of Business Administration

All my life, my family has been struggling to meet our daily needs. That’s why growing as

a child, I’ve always dreamt of providing my family's necessities in return for my parents’

hardships just to send us to school and make ends meet. My parents have always

encouraged us to finish our studies because they said education is the only thing that

they could give us. They have raised us by trying lots of businesses, such as producing

furniture, making rags, selling pickled papaya, and selling street food like noodle soup

and other meals for breakfast. The latter had been our wall-to-lean-on since then,

especially when we, I and my three siblings, were all studying simultaneously. Even now

that the four of us have already graduated from college, this small-scale food business of

my parents is still on-going, athough not so much improvement has been made from day

one. With this in mind, I had an idea to expand this existing business since I’ve noticed

their growing number of patrons through the years. My parents and their store are well-

known within the area, considering that they have been serving their customers since

2000. My business plan would also allow me to give back to society by providing better

quality goods and services to the customers and job opportunities for the people in our

community. In relation to this, I intend to revolve my research in business management

and/or entrepreneurship.

With the objective of accomplishing all these visions that I have in mind, I took

accountancy in Polytechnic University of the Philippines and persisted to get a CPA

license as a first step. After passing the board, I worked in a consulting firm that gave me

1
opportunities to learn from different owners of companies. In addition, this job allowed me

to hone my technical and interpersonal skills. Currently, I’m working in a global shared

service industry, a competitive environment where I can fully use my expertise in

accounting. I’ve decided to pursue graduate studies for me to completely learn business

administration in its entirety. I believe it would be helpful not only for me to know the nitty-

gritty in a business but also in my standing as a professional.

I am prepared to take the new challenges that this decision would bring, and one

significant trait that qualifies me to this admission is that I’ve always been persevering on

anything that I want to achieve in life; I do not back down on any obstacles that hinder me

from reaching my goals, and I believe one of my advantages is my upbringing.

After finishing the program, I’ll strive to be one of the leaders in a corporate environment

and will save resources for the improvement of my parents’ business. I am also targeting

to manage my own businesses in the future so I could extensively use all the knowledge

that I would learn in the university.
