Closing the Digital Divide:

Identify and explain two emerging technologies that can be used to close the digital divide.
One: Cities and states can give out tablets or some type of technology to low income and
certain people so they can have access to the internet. It helps people find jobs, research, do
homework, college or even start a business. It will be very useful and expensive but that money
is investing in the future so it will be worth it. If cities and states do this it will be beneficial for
residents and it would help close the divide.

Two: To give internet access to rural residents or to have internet plans cheap for low income
areas so they can get access to the internet. Rural residents have bad technology skills and
that’s because the internet is not relevant to them but if you provide them with the internet then
it can become more relevant. Also if we provide cheap internet access to low income areas it
would help because then they will be able to afford to have internet access. It can help them find
new and better jobs and they can get more education if they have access which can lead to
closing the divide and help a little with poverty.
