Praxis Core Exam Analysis

Exam Requirements

The Praxis Core Exam is a test that helps to acknowledge the teachers have a well-

rounded knowledge of Math, English, and Reading. Teachers should know the basics of

these three to become a strong teacher. In Nevada, the scores are in the same range as

each other. The Reading score is 156, the Writing score is 162, and the Math is 150.

When these scores are met, the student is eligible to transfer into their Bachelor’s

program and move on with the education journey.

Exam Preparation

The exam has given me test anxiety since I started on my education journey. I have

always been terrible at tests and have made up for it with the assignments. I was excited

when I saw the Khan Academy was able to help teachers practices for each subject. I did

not realize how much I have forgotten with each subject. My studying was limited. I did

only an hour a day with all three subjects. Some days I figured I did well enough the

previous day and did not bother to practice. The result showed me that even skipping one

day and decrease the progress that I had made. I need to study every day to feel

comfortable with passing the exam.

Exam Results

These results did worry me but did not shock me due to the studying pattern. In Math, I

scored a 68% which means need improvement. I need to study the formulas and feel

comfortable with math. In Reading, I scored 55% which means needs significant

improvement. Reading was always my worst subject. I have a hard time focusing and all

the questions required my full attention. In Writing, I scored a 63% which means needs

improvement. I felt more comfortable with Writing because it was similar to math. I

needed to find the right answer to the solution.

Future Exam Preparation

I will do as much as I can to feel comfortable and achieve passing grades. The book will

help me to focus on the reading portion while the online study will help with math and

writing. If I feel this is not enough, I will look into a tutor. Teaching is my passion. I do

not want the exam to get in my way. I want to be able to pass and feel that I have earned

the right to be able to teach the future.
