Mahatma Ghandi

1. Leadership by example
-his greatest ability was to walk his talk at every level and in every way. India
continue to be a nation of many diverse nationalities but never did they so
unanimously identify with another leader as they identified with Ghandi. He
practiced what he preached at every possible level. He had the barest minimum in
terms of personals possession.
2. Treatment to others
- his letters and writings never had a patronizing or holier-than-thou element but a
always looked at everyone as equals. He spoke from the people’s point of view,
from what motivated them. He speaks in a large audience as if he was taking to
you individually.
3. Persistence
- He has an extraordinary persistence once he had a vision in his mind and his
determination in following through on what he had preached was often at cost
of his own well-being
4. Constant Growth
- Ghandi understand the need and importance of constant growth in life so he
continuously looks out for greater understanding through study of religious
scripture
5. Strength is not shown through muscle power
- He used nonviolence to achieve his goals. For him, its not the power or
authority that makes or coerce people follow him but it’s his respect that
makes people follow him. Right against Might”
6. An eye will only make the whole world blind for an eye
- History can attest to the fact that disputes between leaders resulted to human
conflicts. Our willingness to understand issues of our opponents can result to a
better companionship. We all have the same ambition’s and aspirations to live
our life the fullest and so our differences shouldn’t be the backbone of our
conflicts.
7. Become the change, we want to see
- A great leader always leads with an exemplary life that echoes his ideals.
Ghandi sacrificed his thriving law practice and adopted a simple life to live
among the millions who lived in poverty. One cannot bring world peace to all
unless a leader demonstrates peaceful acts of kindness daily
8. Reasonable
- He is a man of faith but he did not create any dogma for his followers. He
believed that all mankind under one God, and preached Hindu, Muslim, and
Christian ethics
9. Strategist
- Ideas travel very fast. Ghandi is a fascinating figure, strategist, showman and
leader. He had very amazing public relations to the press. he had a total
understanding of the human psychology and used it along with his public
relation skills.
10. Discipline
- He believed that challenging his self-discipline heightened his commitment to
achieving his goals. He has an attitude “Do or Die”.
