ACTIVITY 2
Directions: Explain in your own words the two dimensions of global communication competence given below.
Support your ideas with reasons, and situations that can justify your answer.
1. Global Mindset
 When we think of positive things, positive things will come into our lives. When we think of negative
things, then negative things will rule our lives. Before we can be globally competent in communication
and be able to build intercultural relationships, we need to have a global mindset first. We cannot do
something that our mind rejects. If our mind is open to acquiring and adapting knowledge about cultural
varieties, then we will be able to connect with other people of different cultures and be able to always
arrive at a common understanding with them not only on the intellectual level but on the emotional level
as well.

2. Unfolding the Self

 Once we have that global mindset, that is when we are able to unfold ourselves. This is when we seek for
continuous learning about cultural varieties, cultivate sensitivity through being neutral or unbiased when
we immerse ourselves with other people of different culture, develop creativity by conforming ourselves
to changes and complexities of the globalizing societies, and foster empathy by means of putting
ourselves into others shoes to be able to relate to them. In short, this is the materialization of our global
mindset.
