BP ENERGREASE LS and LS-EP

Lithium-Base Greases

Description
These high-quality lithium-base greases incorporate solvent-refined oils, and are suitable for operating
temperatures between -10°C and 130°C. The Energrease LS grades contain an anti-wear additive,
and oxidation and corrosion inhibitors which help to ensure long service life of the grease and a high
level of protection for ferrous surfaces.

BP Energrease LS-EP greases which incorporate a lead-free EP (extreme pressure) additive, are for
use where surfaces are subjected to heavy or shock loading.
These grades are water-resistant, and have multi-purpose capability.

Main Benefits
• multi-purpose
• long service life
• low friction torque
• resistant to water wash-out
• good shear stability and resistance to vibration.
• good pumpability.

Applications
BP Energrease LS & LS-EP greases are for use in plain and rolling bearings of all types and in all
kinds of machinery - including electric motors, machine tools, textile, paper-making and woodworking
machines, and construction equipment - where the operating temperatures are within the limits
specified above.

Approvals / Recommendations
BP Energrease LS 2 and LS 3 greases are approved by SKF as premium-grade greases. LS-EP 2 &
3 are used for highly loaded rolling and plain bearings over the full range of operating speeds. LS-EP 2
meets the British Timken requirements for a heavy-duty grease for use in steel mills.

Storage and Handling

Proper standards of storage and handling are necessary with all lubricants, and are particularly vital
with greases. Packages should be treated with care at all stage, to prevent contamination of their
contents and damage to containers. All packages should be stored indoors; where outside storage is
unavoidable, they should be covered to avoid the possible ingress of water and the consequent
obliteration of painted markings. Greases should not be exposed to extremes of temperature nor to
direct hot sunlight.

Products should not be stored above 60°C, exposed to hot sun or freezing conditions.
Health, Safety and Environment
Health, safety and environmental information is provided for these products in the Material Safety Data
Sheet. This gives details of potential hazards, precautions and First Aid measures, together with
environmental effects and disposal of used products.

The British Petroleum Company p.l.c. or its subsidiaries will not accept liability if the products are used
other than in the manner or with the precautions or for the purpose/s specified. Before the products are
used other than as directed, advice should be obtained from the local BP office.
