Road to Santiago/ Road to Saint James/ Way of Santiago
Road/Route/ Path/ Way Once upon a time, there was a road called Heraclean from Italy to the Celts (North of Italy), Celtoligians (Marselle) and Iberians. Throughout this route pilgrims were guarded by the inhabitants, so that no harm would befall them. This information comes from peripathetic School, the Aristotles’ circle, and it came from direct and accurate observation. Nowadays, from the 9th century, the Way of Saint James seems to be an adaptation of the ancient route. The French Way (Camino Francés) and the Routes of Northern Spain are roads which are listed in the World Heritage List. The Way can take one of dozens of pilgrimage routes to Santiago de Compostela. Traditionally, the Way of Saint James begins at one's home and ends at the pilgrimage site. However, a few routes are considered main ones. The pilgrimage to Santiago has never ceased from the time of the discovery of St. James's remains in 812 AD, though there have been years with fewer pilgrims, particularly during European wars. The ancient way is a Way written in the sky, the way of the stars, the way of the Sun, Helios’ Road. Through Gemini, Helios gets on his chariot in the Auriga and arrives in the Milky Way. It goes on to Sirio (a dog with other name: Orto), brother of Cancerbero, and arrives in Orion. Hercules went following the route of the Sun and Helios lend to Hercules his cauldron, his Golden Bowl in Land’s End (Finisterre) to cross the Atlantic ocean. The three steps of the Sun The Sun orbits the Earth in three steps. In the first step, it takes possession of the sky, in the second step, it takes possession of the sea and in the third one, it takes possession of the Other World, penetrating in the interior of the earth. The stone boat The souls of people and animals arrive at Land’s End, at the Atlantic beaches, to take the boat that will take them to Paradise. Descending to their boat, Helios transforms his rays into footprints, projected and engraved on the rocks. This footprints show the Way to the seaside. The boat, built with stone, is waiting. The souls go to their vessel and march to the Beyond, assisted by Psychopomps who transport the stone boats on their shoulders. In a dark night, near the Finisterre Sea, you may listen to a knocking at your door and muffled voices calling… If you go to the shore immediately, you can see empty and unfamiliar boats, without any one but you can hear whispers, the voices from dead people crossing the sea to the Averno.
