GENERAL MANUAL OF PROCEDURES AND GUIDELINES FOR LABORATORY


ROOMS (DRAFTING & COMPUTER)

1. Class studio, drafting or lab time is expected to be spent in lab work. Lab time is not free
time. Attendance and concerted work on assignments are required. Work at home will
be required in addition to work during lab times (work at home should not substitute for
work during lab periods).
2. The CAYGO policy is strictly enforced. After class, students are required to clean their
workplace, throw their trash in the appropriate waste bins, and place their stools (upside
down) on top of their drafting tables, Lavatories are found in each drafting room for the
cleaning of brushes and water color pans. “Clean As You GO.”
3. Rooms marked H700, H706, H708, H710 & H711 are equipped with 50 drafting tables, 50
stools, 1 instructor’s table & chair, a chalkboard and 1 set lavatory for drafting or studio
classes. Since these rooms are also used for studio work (painting, scale model, props
making, etc…) table surfaces are generally not smooth, hence, students are advised to
bring board matting or their personal drafting board for drawing and manual drafting
purposes.
4. H501 is the assigned computer laboratory room for all Architecture CADD courses. One
computer unit is assigned for each student.

MANUAL OF PROCEDURES AND GUIDELINES FOR COMPUTER LABORATORY:

1. Only students/ users scheduled for a particular laboratory class period, or, authorized
lab activity stuff be allowed to enter the laboratory room.

2. Each student must have (1) functional computer unit.

3. A student/user must stay at the terminal assigned to him/her by the instructor, or,
computer laboratory custodian/technician on duty.

4. Students/users are not allowed to swap terminals or computer peripherals unless


when authorized by the instructor, or, computer lab custodian on duty. Loitering
inside the lab is prohibited.

5. A student/user is not allowed to alter the settings or configurations of network


devices, computer terminals, and other equipment inside the laboratory without
due permission from the computer laboratory custodian/technician. Furthermore, a
user is not allowed to install any software in any of the lab terminals unless he/she
seeks approval from the SLU Net Office.
6. No student/user is allowed to bring into the room his/her personal equipment (hard
disks, mouse, display monitors, printers, and the like) for the connection to any
computer, without prior approval from both the instructor and the SLU Net Office.

7. Chewing gum, eating, drinking, and smoking inside the computer lab room are
prohibited.

8. Vandalizing any computer peripheral, equipment, material, or device inside the


computer lab room is prohibited. This includes unauthorized
installation/development and execution of any undesirable computer program
that will adversely affect the operation of any computer unit inside the lab room,
or, the SLU computer network.

9. Playing any kind of computer game/s, downloading, and browsing the internet
is strictly not allowed inside the lab unless it is an authorized class lab activity.

10. For the laboratories where terminals are networked, students/users are prohibited
to access the Internet/ Intranet unless specifically allowed by the instructor
and/or the SLU net office. The lab terminals are primarily intended for the
research and educational purposes and not for personal or business purposes.

11. SILENCE must be observed by everyone inside the computer room,

12. During any laboratory class period, the faculty/adviser is responsible for
controlling the behavior of his/her class. However, in case the class becomes
rowdy because of the faculty/adviser is not physically inside the lab room, the
lab custodian may intervene to control the class in order to prevent any form of
physical injury, accident and/or vandalism from happening inside the lab room.

13. The SLUNET Office Director, or, supervising laboratory custodian/technician


and/or student assistant has the right to advise to any student/user to leave the
lab when the user violates any of the above-mentioned policies. Violation of any
item in this MOPG will be dealt with according to the rules in the SLU
employee/staff/student handbooks and any relevant rules/regulations.
