Zamboanga City Water District

1. What are the processes that occur between harvesting raw water (water from
watersheds) and the delivery of clean water for the city’s consumption?
2. Does the company have programs/activities encouraging environmental care
and preservation?
3. Zamboanga City seems to have an annual scarcity of water supply from as
early as January to as late as July. Does the company have any infrastructure
plans to bridge this gap of water shortage? Do these projects involve
clearing of forests or land? If yes, what are some measures they take to
minimize the impact of these projects to the environment?
4. What factor do you think contributed to the reduction of water supply to the
city? Do you think the changes in the environment played a crucial role in
causing the scarcity?
5. In the event of a storm, why do we sometimes experience a reduction/loss in
water supply?
6. Did the company ever consider extracting groundwater as an alternative
source? How safe is Zamboanga’s groundwater now than before?
7. Are the raw water sources polluted? To what extent? Is it more polluted
physically or chemically?
8. How clean does the water need to be for it to be distributed for public use?

9. What are the main contaminant’s in the pre-processing and post-processing
of water?
10.How does the collection of water from the sheds/ sources affect the
marine/fluvial life in the water? (Frogs, algae, Fish,etc.)
11. Did the city ever had an experience of acid rain? Was there a time where
water from the watershed/source became acidic/basic than normal?
12. If given the sufficient budget by the present administration, what
services/projects do you plan on implementing to improve your company’s
services? How do you see ZCWD 10-20 years from now?
13. Heavy rains in the city occasionally inundate/flood the city’ streets. Does
the dirty water from the flood affect water quality and distribution?
14. During the El Nino season, what are some of the biggest problems your
office had to tackle?
15. What barangay and types of businesses/institutions consume the most
volume of water in the city? Are they given any responsibilities/fees to make
up for their use?
