Imagine having 40 Quail Layers and 10 Cockerels, this can earn you N15,000 minimum income

weekly

without stress. Let us do this calculation together.

Quail lays on daily basis especially for the first year. Therefore, 40 Layers will lay 40 eggs per

day. Supposing you deduct 10 in case of unexpected, you have 30 Quail eggs per day.

BUSINESS PLAN FOR RAISING OF 50 QUAIL BIRDS

Bird (Day old N100x50= N5,000), (Point of Lay N600x50 = N30,000).

Feeding 10gram per chicks from day old to 2 weeks, 15grams from 2 weeks to 4 weeks and 20-
25grams

upward.

Feeding Calculation

50 day old Quails will consume 7.5 kilogram of feed at two weeks old, 11.25 kilogram in the
following 2 weeks and 15 kilograms for the last weeks before production making the sum of
33.75 kilogram of feeds from day old to point of production. While a point of lay Quail will
consume 20 gram of feed per day making the sum of 1 kilogram of feed per 50 Quails per day.

Vaccination

Quail does not necessarily need vaccine but certain amount of money can be set aside for
vaccines.

However, the comprehensive plan goes thus:

Bird (40 female and 10 male =50 Quails) making N5,000for day old and N30,000for point of lay.

Feeding 5,440/45daysfor day old or 1,120/week for point of lay.

*Brooding Exp. (Charcoal, Mud pot e.t.c) 2,000 for day old only.
*Vaccine 100/week

Miscellaneous 2,000 for day old only.

Total 15,040 (Day old to point of production) N31,220 (Point of Lay)

Sales Forecast

30 eggs x 7 = 210 eggs/week

210 day old quail @ N100 per each = N21,000

Less cost of hatching @ N10 per each =N2,100

Profit Forecast

Sales N21,000

Feeding (1,120)

Cost of hatching (2,100)

*Vaccine (100)

Profit N17,680
